I thought Samsung, like Apple, would back its products regardless of where they were purchased. Nope. I've had a Flip 4 less than 6 months and of course, the bendy screen has failed. Big surprise. But no local service center will touch it. There's no help from Samsung international. No help from Samsung in Thailand where we bought it. It's a flawed design from a company that offers pretty much no warrantee worth a jot.

Hi @havanother The warranty is valid within the rtegion the Smartphone was purchased. For uk users devices would be elegible if the products were purchased with the European Economic area (EEA) .
I am not sure where you are based but we are the UK/European communities.

Hello 👋 @havanother
I am sorry to hear you've had this experience. 😞
I imported a Samsung Note²⁰ from Samsung Hong Kong and knew one of the caveats was the Manufacturer's Warranty wouldn't be valid due to reasons attributed to different parts being used in different regions etc.
This is why I ensured the phone was at least covered under my Home Contents Insurance.
I believe some Banks provide cover as a perk of the account too.
If i can be of any further help please don't hesitate to ask 😎

Thanks James, that's my point. Apple would service the phone anywhere. An iPhone is an iPhone no matter where you buy it. And Apple stand behind their products. Hence why that's my daily driver. And why Apple is in the top 3 companies in the US. The Flip I bought for my son. Who like many teens won't listen to sense. I told him Samsung was a bad idea. I told him bendy screens are just asking for trouble. I note that nobody, even on a Samsung fan forum, is denying the Flip is junk. Bendy phones are just a dumb idea.

Thanks, yeah. Insurance. We have it. But I suspect it'd be hard-yards convincing them to pay out on a phone that's failed because of poor design and manufacturing. They'd no doubt want to know why I didn't just return it. And when I tell them, they'd say what I'd say; "Why didn't you get an iPhone?? For a start, it wouldn't break. And if it did, they'd replace it." I have no answer for that.

Apple may give you some advantages but you will not find too many singing their praises here. Appreciate your predicament though. Many of us here find Samsung more innovative and customisable. Whilst I tried iphones moved away from them some time ago.
I agree that there have been some issues with Foldables but improvements have been made with the latest versions. I had no issue with a Z Fold 6 when I tested it (courtesy of Samsung) for 4 months. There are also a number of Flip fans on this community.

Of course. This is a Samsung forum so I expected nothing other than frothing Samsung fanboys. Everything has it followers, no matter how crazy. But given how rubbish the product is, and how useless the support is - which is evidenced, not just an opinion, it never ceases to amaze me. There are endless reports of the bendy phones failing. It's a flawed idea with flawed engineering. Nothing but a novelty - hence why my teenage son was so adamant in getting one. You say they've got better. Maybe. But do you not feel like guinea pigs? You'd think they would've ironed issues out by version 4. You really think 6 is any better? Samsung is firing out inferior products with poor support. So to me, it seems like a pointless risk. Unless of course, you're such a fanboy, they give you free phones. I which case, I'd get one. For my son. Because even free, I wouldn't trust a Samsung. Customizable? I mean, maybe? What do you want to customise? It's a phone? Put a Hello Kitty case on it if you want. But I really can't imagine my wife or I wanting to customise our iPhones beyond that.
