Hi

I sent my phone to the Samsung shop a few days ago for screen replacement after an issue on the screen.

The screen has now been replaced and it is fine but the phone has returned with a problem on the ear speaker. It seems to be mute,

I can only take calls and hear whatsapp audios on loud speakers, the earpiece speaker is not working.

I have already tried the software update, resetting all settings, clearing storage data on the phone app, disconnecting bluetooth, nothing seems to work.

Anyone else having the same problem?

Any advice?

Many thanks!

Hi! Welcome to the Samsung Members community!

The first thing I would suggest is going to the Samsung Members app—click on diagnostics and run those tests. If there's a problem, it may be worth contacting Samsung directly.

The only things I can suggest are: testing if it works on other apps, such as a regular phone app.

Trying to go to Apps—WhatsApp—clear cache; Apps—Phone—clear cache (back up any chats beforehand).

You may also want to clear the cache partition.

Plug into a PC/laptop/USB-C headset.
1. Turn off the phone.
2. Press and hold the Volume up and Side buttons.
3. Release the Side button when the phone turns on.
4. Press and hold the Volume up button until the phone enters Recovery Mode.
5. Press the Volume down button to select Wipe cache partition.
6. Press the Side button.
7. Press the Volume down button to select Yes.
8. Press the Side button.
9. The phone will automatically reset and reboot.

As mentioned above, this sounds like it may require Samsung repair, but the steps above should eliminate software as the issue.

Sadly some of the repair partners are pretty useless, I have always had bad experiences, last one is still an ongoing credit card dispute, sent my ZFOLD4 in for the SoD issue, something the managed to mess up and damage the area not far from top earpiece, worked fine but a noticeable gap, made worse after the second attempt to repair.

If you paid with a credit card raise a section 75 dispute.

@Binx92: I'm very sorry to hear that you have encountered this issue with the in-call speaker following a recent repair. When you're on a call, have you tried pressing the Volume Up button on the side of the device to raise the overall call volume?

If so, and if it is at a suitable level, please head to the Samsung Members app > Press and hold on the app icon > Diagnostics > Phone diagnostics > Speaker, and follow the on-screen instructions. Can you hear the sample song clearly during the in-call speaker test?

If not, please get back in touch with our Support Team via samsung.com > Scroll to the bottom of the page > Contact us, and an advisor will be able to provide further assistance, however please be advised that a further engineer's inspection and repair may be required to bring the phone back to its default specifications. Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Thanks All for your help, I have tried everything software related. Starting to think it is a hardware problem. I did not want to go back to the shop as they will clear all my configurations again and it is a pain to reset them all. But apparently will have to go back at some point. The samsung repair shop I used was the official one in Barcelona, Corte ingles Plaza Catalunya. Thanks again
