Black line appeared out of nowhere on a Samsung Z Flip 3 where the fold is

I bought a Samsung Z Flip 3 from ATT about 1.5 years ago.

There's a black line appeared out of nowhere in the fold and it spreaded out like this within seconds.

I contacted ATT and they told me there's nothing they can do since this phone is out of warranty.

My question is, if I ask Samsung to repair this phone, how much will it cost typically?

I live in California.

And btw, a US lawfirm is investigating those problematic flip phones from samsung:

UPDATE: Here's the link to the Z-flip class-action lawsuit:

The previous link was for Z-fold, but they belong to the same lawfirm.

Please complete the questionnaire on this page, send us an email at info@classlawdc.com, or give us a call at (202) 470-3520 for more information.

And here's an ongoing lawsuit against Samsung over Z-flip defect:

Hi @zflip_user. It would be best to contact Samsung in your region for more info on the cost. Take a look at this link: https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Samsung-Community/ct-p/us?page=1&tab=recent_topics

Hi @zflip_user

As far as I'm aware all Samsung phone's are covered by a 24 Month Manufacturing Warranty so if your phone is within that timescale then your entitled to have the phone looked at by a Service Centre either by your Network or Samsung.

A Repair would be typically be free as long as any damage isn't accidental.

If I can be of any further help then please don't hesitate. Take care.  😎

Thank you for the information about the class action lawsuit.  I had the exact same thing happen 2 weeks after the warrantee expired.  I went to T Mobile and Best Buy, many sales reps said this was a very common occurrence after about a year.  Samsung charged me $99 to send it in as a Std Repair fee.  Now, they said the fee will be another $99 for the Std Repair Fee plus $250 for the LCD Assembly Repair fee.  Why are they double charging the $99 standard repair fee?  Hope that enough people see the Class Action notification.

I called Samsung customer support, the 1800 number, the service rep quoted me $243 ($99 std repair + $125 screen panel +$tax) for initial inspection that I will have to pay out of pocket right away upon payment in full, Samsung will then provide shipping instructions to one of their service center. But the final charge will be subjected to change.

This is outright high way robbery.

Not in the case of Z Flip 3, it is only 12 months.

The page for the class action lawsuit says it's for the Fold 4, 3 & 2. It doesn't mention the Flip at all.

I filled out the questionnaire anyway & will reach out after the new year.

Thank you for pointing it out.

I added the link to the Z-flip lawsuit. They are both from the same lawfirm.
