S9+ not displaying messages on mazda cx5

Hi I have an s9+ connected to my 2013 Mazda cx5 it connects ok, makes calls and plays music over bluetooth no problem the problem is it won't display text messages which I know the car is capable of, it does ask for permission to access contacts and messages but the messages never work.

I'm having the same issue with my S10, it was showing me my messages and reading them out, it has suddenly stopped working. Been searching for ages for a way to fix this issue, unfortunately, I can't find an answer, I've tried unpairing, then re-pairing, I've tried reseting the cars settings, nothing seems to work.😪
