Screen scratched on S25

I've had the phone for a few weeks and done nothing more than take it in and out of my pocket. It hasn't been dropped. The pocket it lives in never has anything else in it. Yet there's an inch-long scratch in the middle of the screen.

It seems I'm not alone

I don't consider this fit for purpose. I shall be returning.

Hi! Welcome to the Samsung Members community.

In some testing videos, it does appear to be less scratch-resistant compared to the S24U, but it is much more resistant to cracks. Always use a screen protector, in my opinion. I'm curious how the return goes, as it's past the 14-day return window, and I believe you'll just be offered repairs (which they may not do for a scratch).

Hey there

I suspect the screen through the pocket has come into contact with something. Maybe the side of a table or door etc.

I have a pixel watch that has always been looked after but it is easily knocked and has a scratch.

Samsung won't refund you in full for this I'm afraid as once it you've opened the box it is outside of their control and they ABSOLUTELY WILL say it was damaged by the user.

Just managing your expectations here.

I expect they'll tell me to ***** off. I will stamp my feet until they return or replace. I've had many samsungs and have never felt the need to put it in a case, but it seems this glass is not fit for purpose.

Warranty is warranty in the stores mind- be mindful not to kickoff towards the member of staff, ask for a manager. I'm unsure how your response will work, tbh, as sometimes staff are legitimately locked to what they can physically do on the tills. I work for a retailer on weekends while doing my degree, and the tills themselves are set to do said tasks; if you try to overwrite it, it just loops you back and doesn't let you. Unsure how it works for Samsung systems/the retailer you got it from.

It was obviously damaged while being used, but not through mistreatment of any kind. I can feel it as I swype this message.

Ah, I see. I'm unsure how that works, then. I feel like it may not be possible to return from a scratch. I wish you luck.

My old S105g has gorilla glass 6. Extremely good scratch resistance. Never used a screen protector on it. Been in pockets and bags, etc. Only a couple of micro scratches in 6 years.I'm still using it for work. They should make scratch resistance as good/better as they used to be. I believe people are generally careful with their phones and are more concerned about scratches rather than drops. Any scratch is a massive ball ache. I highly doubt sammy will do anything about it. Would definitely get a screen protector, mate!

Perhaps I will. The horse has bolted though.
