I do not want to sound crazy or paranoid. Just want to check if this is the case with only me. I am trying so hard to actually like my newly acquired Samsung S25 ultra. I intended to upgrade from the S22 ultra. After days of contemplating and taking several pictures with both cameras, i find that my S22 ultra does way better with pictures. I am not at all impressed at all. I am actually thinking of just returning it and sticking with my S22 ultra. I was upgrading practically for the storage capacity and the freebies. Is there anyone else who feels this way?

I, too, experienced the same issue with the front camera producing subpar, shady pictures - reminiscent of old VGA cameras. As an S22 user, I'm accustomed to smoother images. Thankfully, I've already initiated a return request.

After scouring several posts about the camera quality, I'm convinced I made the right decision. Spending over £1000 on this phone wouldn't be justified given its camera performance. Unfortunately, Samsung fell short with this release.

Samsung's cameras have fallen far behind the competition generally, and the s25 is barely different than the s24. If you check the dxo mark rankings that has 24 Ultra is number 28 in the world. Samsung's days of leading the market are long, long, long gone.

I feel like this is a very odd statement to just throw out there. I don't agree with you and to add some context, just watch the review videos from YouTube. And I mean, watch a lot of them, not just a few. To say they've fallen beside is absurd. Certain cameras excel in different areas, but samsung continues to always top the charts in zoom, and with the s25 ultra, it's been doing crazy well with macro and portraits too. For me personally,  I still prefer my pixel 9 pro for a lot of shots, but pixels portrait shots lately have been underwhelming.

I can say with a great amount of  certainty from using my s25 ultra the last 4 days, that the ai removal cannot be matched by any phone. Not even kinda close. I used my son's 16 pro max and the pixel 9 pro i haven't sent in yet and it's a blood bath. I can post some pics to show, but the generative removal is about 2 years ahead of any other phone. The iPhone's clean up feature isn't even on par with the original magic eraser from 2 years ago.

I'm disappointed with my s25 ultra's camera as well. My s23 ultra had more vivid colors and natural warmth. I only upgraded for the extra storage

I'm dubious about changing from my S22 Ultra to the S25. OOC JPEGs seem to be more "natural", which I like. However, I've been able to modify S22 Ultra JPEG image quality to my liking by taking the following steps - the following apply only to JPEG.

  1. Turn Intelligent Optimization to Medium. This moderates what I see as over-processing.
  2. I downloaded Samsung Camera Assistant, and turned Picture Softening to Medium. This moderates what I view as over-sharpening. Also, I sometimes turn off Auto HDR (so that in certain situations the images will look less "flat").
  3. For low light shooting, I avoid using the Night mode, finding that Photo mode works better.
  4. Generally, I shoot in Pro Mode.
  5. When using regular Photo mode, which in my opinion tends to overexpose, I move the indicator on the screen to darken the image to taste (wish I could make that default).

I hope these steps will help to make your images more pleasing.
