It appears that Nav Star in Goodlock has been updated and you can remove the gesture hint bar from the bottom of screen if it is annoying you.

Hey I found a really cool solution. After you install nav star module, turn on the "enable extra settings" type option there. Then uninstall navstar(trust me). Then go back to navigation settings in settings app and you will find the option to hide the hint. And the coolest thing is, you no longer need to keep the module you downloaded.

In regards to the notification thing, if you haven't already, swipe all the way down, press the pen icon, press panel settings then choose together instead of separate.

Thanks for the comment. Although of course I've tried this, man. The Together option was way worse at the time of writing, but it's gotten a bit better. It still doesn't support any reorganization other than the settings shortcuts, and the empty spaces are ridiculously large. A 7-inch display should definitely show more than this... It seems to be designed for small screens with everything simply scaled up.
