Help - I bought my s25 ultra in Netherlands but i live in uk how can I do insurance for the phone?

I bought my s25 ultra in Netherlands but i live in uk how can I do insurance for the phone ?

Don't think you can do it as its a non eu device so can't get insurance in the UK as only option was to get it online but dont know now

Hello 👋 @tiko11a 

If your asking about Samsung Care+ then there is a time frame of six months that this can be applied if Care+ was not purchased withthe phone purchase if you purchased directly from Samsung.

If you didn't add it or bought the phone from another retailer then Care+ can be added upto six months from the time of purchase.

 Use the link in the above faqs support page to see if you can add Samsung Care+

If you cannot then look at standalone insurance companies that accommodate Mobile Phone Insurance. 

I have my phone's covered under my Home Contents Insurance Policy.

Where exactly in the Netherlands did you buy your phone - directly from Samsung online, one of their Experience stores, a service provider like Vodafone or KPN, or a big electronics store such as Mediamarkt or Cool Blue?

Just a word on an experience i had last year. I hunted for a phone fold 6 on comparison sites in the UK... and found one for a great price. It was actually a price level that seemed 'too good to be true'.

It turned up, was in a genuine box, and after unboxing and setting it up I was very happy for a couple of days.

However for the price and reliability of a fold 6, I wanted to buy samsung genuine insurance. I went on Assurant website for Care+ and entered the IMEI number.

However I starting getting errors ' your imei number is invalid'. I contacted the assurant help line.

Upon further investigation it was confirmed the phone was a genuine handset, although had a CSC code for the region of Portugal.

Assurant Care+ would not insure me. I contacted the retailer that I bought it from and they confirmed that they source the phones from European regions to be able to offer their competitive pricing.

For me, and an £1800 phone (which cost me around £1400), this represented too much risk for the following reasons :

- Samsung warranty may not apply if the phone is not in the region it was intended.

- software updates are pushed by region and there is a chance that the over-the-air updates are not sent or received by a phone out of region.

- if samsung themselves are not willing to offer a paid Care+ plan i decided to decline.

So I sent it back for refund with the retailer. I also learned a lesson.

I am sure you may be able to find an insurer willing to take your money each month, and perhaps specialise in the EU phones market. But the reasons I mention all this info above, is that insurance may perhaps not be the only issue you can have by using a phone out of its region.
