Heyo all. Seems one of the new device bugs has shown up. The Google wallet app doesn't allow contactless to be setup on any card.

A quick search shows I'm not the only one, so it seems the security that handles contactless hasn't been updated to support the new phones. Or at least the banks haven't allowed it yet.

Samsung pay works just fine, though the number of supported banks are lower.

My Galaxy S25 Ultra also doesn't accept my card. I tried all the options; I even tried factory resetting it twice, but it still doesn't work. I don't know what to do really

There's nothing you can do, this is an issue with the banks themselves not allowing s25 phones

How can you explain the SAME bank cards being accepted in some users' S25ultra Google Wallet, but not in others? This doesn't make sense. Is this account specific? I've got 2 Google accounts and both don't work. Only some phones work, and some don't. Batch related issue? Issue persists after the recent S25U update as well.

Not seen anyone with working cards yet. One person here had HSBC work but other than that, everyone has the same error. Multiple people have emailed banks and we all get the same reply from them

Yup. I'm the one with working HSBC Visa working.

We have a tech forum in SG where people share their views and many of them got their cards working in Gwallet. There's only a select few who run into this problem.
My nephew also has the same phone and the card I actually wanna add (YouTrip) works great for him.

So perhaps it is the banks which may have some retry mechanism which locks you out perhaps?
I wish Samsung would take a stand to investigate this, coz so far the only thing common in this saga is S25.

Some updates, barclays now works with Google wallet. Santander and natwest still don't though the error has changed slightly. Santander now works on samsung pay, but seems to deny my watch (assuming trying in a few days should fix that)

There's no issue with the phone. The issue is banks are super slow and haven't added s25 phones to the safe list yet. If contactless is a deal breaker, setup Samsung pay with curve, it allows you to use any card via Samsung pay.

No clue when it'll be fixed but hopefully soon

I have the same issue - google app said to contact my bank. My bank couldn't help and escalated it to google pay support. I received this reply from Google support today: "

You contacted us on 24 February 2025 to let us know that you were having issues registering your card to Google Pay.

I would like to inform you that when you are adding your cards to the digital wallet, a number of checks are completed between your bank, the card scheme and the wallet provider. We reserve the right to not allow the card to be added following these checks.

We recommend that you try again after 30 days. However, in the meantime you can continue to use your card to transact.

Please accept my sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused."

I have a credit card with another bank and I tried that just as an experiment and received the same error message. However, 5 minutes later that bank called me to ask if I was trying to add it to google wallet and I confirmed that I was. They had it sorted in a few minutes and I've now added it. My conclusion is that it is the bank that is the issue in my case it's Nat West.
