copying text, sometimes it works and many times it doesn't ... why?

The time-tested manner of copying text, either by using one's finger or an S Pen, doesn't always work.  

I'm certain this isn't a fault of the phone ... or my finger, but why is it so?

Software/clipboard glitch. Sometimes it will paste old info then have to copy it using share functionality

No issues on my side on the S25U.

Makes little sense to check, but have you tried it outside of the MS launcher?* I recall you using that, if you still do

Perhaps I should have been clearer. There are many times when I can't grab the text to begin with. 

I'll have an article on the screen and there's nothing I can do to grab any text from that article.
