Auto-Restart Seems to Cause My Routine To Stop Firing

Hi All,

I have a routine on my S25 Ultra to turn on extended unlock based on my home wifi network. Getting home after work, this routine triggers exactly correctly.

I also have enabled auto-restart every day at around 0400. I find that when I wake in the morning around 0700, my phone will ask me to input my pattern as my phone has restarted. This task seems to be working exactly correctly as well.

The issue, however, is that after unlocking my phone in the morning, the routine for extended unlock fails to recognize that I am connected to my home wifi network.

I can toggle wifi off and on and the routine will not recognize a trigger has been met. I can disable and re-enable the routine and it still doesn't recognize that a trigger has been met.

The only way I can get the routine to execute correctly, other than a manual reboot, is to go into the routine and re-select the same wifi network that I'm already connected to. Selecting the active network and saving changes to the routine, it will recognize that I'm on the correct network and the routine will execute.

If anyone had any recommendations on what might be causing this or what I can look into to I'd be happy to take your suggestions, thanks for your time.

Maybe add to check wifi network by name only

I actually tried to do that and the settings menu stops me, saying that I cannot have it set by name only for an extended unlock action. It shouldn't be necessary regardless, as I live in a house with only one network broadcasting device, but you never know.

Saturday, Sunday, and Monday morning the problem did not occur, but this morning (Tuesday morning) it did.

Same as before, I toggled airplane mode off/on, toggled wifi off/on, nothing would cause the routine to fire. I could see in history that the routine stopped at 4am (for the daily restart) and never reactivated.

Something changed when I went into the network settings and changed MAC address type from Randomized MAC to Phone MAC - the routine instantly began running.

I'm not super familiar with MAC addresses but I'm looking forward to continuing my tests over the next couple days.

Are there any reasons why I would want to maintain a randomized MAC address on my private home network?

Thanks again to everyone who takes the time to read.

Edit to throw in some screenshots:

No need for randomised mac on your network

The MAC address setting did not resolve the issue.

I'm running out of things to test... I can't figure out how/why my 'home' mode can resume after an automatic restart but my routine to extend unlock refuses to trigger correctly.

Edit: I had a thought on the way into work, I'm going to build a routine to turn off my wifi from 05:00 - 05:02 every day and see if that's enough to cycle my network connection such that the extended unlock routine will 'see' that I'm connected to my home network. It seems kinda silly to have to build a routine to help another routine trigger successfully, but oh well.

I am still at a loss for why my extended unlock routine will (intermittently) refuse to fire until I've either manually power cycled the phone or I've manually forgotten the wifi network and re-added it. Would appreciate any suggestions or pointers anyone might have, thanks.

Edit: power cycling the router will cause the routine to fire correctly. Why does it feel like something isn't getting flushed out of the wifi network settings correctly?
