I've been experimenting alot with LOG too for a while now, and after watching numorous YouTube videos on the subject, I think I've found the perfect settings that I want to share:
For recording in LOG mode, switch to Provideo and set the following:
1. Set to ISO to MANUAL, and set it to the lowest setting, which should be 50. This eliminates digital noise.
2. Set SPEED (shutter speed) to the double of the fps you're recording. So if the footage is recorded in 30 fps, the shutter speed should be 1/60s. If you're recording in 24 fps, choose 1/50s. This is for optimal light conditions. If you're recording in very lit conditions, like on a sunny day, try set it to AUTO and back to MANUAL when it has found the optimal shutter speed by itself.
3. Set Focus to whatever you like. Personally I prefer Centered.
4. Set WB (white balance) to AUTO and let it adjust itself. When done, set it to MANUAL so it's locked.
5. You can set a zebra pattern so it will display where some objects are overexposed. It's the icon with a circle and 3 stripes. Set the value to 90 or 95. You can then adjust your shutter speed to eliminate the overexposure.
Next is colorgrading the footage. Forget about Samsungs own LUT. I'm using DaVinci Resolve (it's free) with a Power Grade from UMARNAQ (Umar Naqshbandi on YouTube). You can download it for free in his webshop at: https://umarnaq.sellfy.store/p/samsungs25log-rec709/
When downloaded, copy-paste the file into: C:\ProgramData\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\LUT
In DaVinci Resolve, after you've imported your footage and inserted it to the timeline, choose Color in the bottom, click Gallery in the top-left corner, right-click on Stills 1 and choose Add PowerGrade Album.
Click on PowerGrade 1, and in the empty box on the right, right-click and choose Import with Output LUT. Browse to the folder where you copy-pasted the .drx-file, and import it.
Now, click on the clip in the timeline below the preview, and right-click on the 'GalaxyS25LOG_Conversion.drx' and choose Apply Grade.
You're welcome.
