ESR vs. Torras Tempered Glass for S25U

Since I am not happy with the official AR film for the S25U, due to the screen colors shifting a lot with ambient light and eyeglasses, I am looking for a regular high quality tempered glass, that is clear and glossy (not anti reflective).

After shopping around and looking at videos and reviews, consensus seems to be between ESR and Torras, most reviews say that these two are the best in terms of clarity, fingerprint responsiveness, and no or minimal rainbow effect with glasses.

I don't care about drop protection since I don't drop my phone, just want scratch resistance and clear protector, also oleophobic is important.

ESR is cheaper, readily available in my region for 18 EUR on Amazon for a pack of 3, Torras on the other hand is harder to find and goes for 30 EUR for a pack of 2,

Spigen doesn't seem to have the best reviews, and is really expensive without providing anything special,

Views or reflections?

I had the ESR screen protector, but I found it left a small gap around the edge between the screen and my case. Also, the fingerprint reader often struggled.

I went with this one — https://amzn.eu/d/eImZ7a7

It maintains a small amount of AR and covers the whole screen.

I actually bought this one back in February when the phone was new and I was awaiting the genuine anti reflective screen protector.

They were really cheap and I was really surprised at how good quality they were, and how easily they applied. Also the finger print worked fine after re-registering after fitment.

I was so impressed I bought another pack for the future.

Good catch regarding the gap around the edges, I now see in YouTube that it indeed has a larger gap than others, just wondering isn't that necessary to avoid lifting when putting a case on, do you use your phone with a case?

Many times in the past I installed a screen protector perfectly, then once I put the case on, it lifts and ruins the installation.

Do you use a polarized sunglass or blue light filter eyeglasses, do you see color shifting / rainbow with that one? Thanks!

Thanks, that's an obvious cheap best seller which is what I looked at first, my concerns with this one based on a YouTube review

1. It doesn't look very clear, there is a noticeable degree of light blocking or tinting

2. The oleophobic coating doesn't look very effective, it smugs easily from fingers

3. There is some color shifting when looking through polarized sunglasses, even though I don't use sunglasses, my eye glasses has a blue light filter which I am guessing is some sort of polarization.

4. The opening for the front camera, I don't care about the front camera or selfies, so I prefer a full coverage.

The main reason I want to remove the official Samsung AR one, is the color shifting with glasses, but also it gets  very smudgy, I wipe it several times a day, and the moment I touch it it smudges, it's also not very clear due to a pink tint it has, since I am trying to improve these factors, not sure if the amFilm is the answer? :smiling-face:

I use the dbrand Grip case, and the screen protector sits flush with the case. When putting the case back on, I just made sure I was careful to avoid any lifting. I haven't noticed any color shifting or rainbowing, either. I can't comment on the sunglasses, I'm afraid.

Hi, I personally can vouch for the ESR screen Protector, it's easy to install & yes the clarity & fingerprint use is topnotch.

I must say that's a nice screen Protector, I've never heard of that company, you might have changed my mind, I'll purchase one & see.

@Blessed4life any downsides you see with the ESR after this long term use, even small ones that you could mention?

What about the oleophobic performance? I have a bit of sweaty hands which tends to smudge the screen easier if oleophobic is not good.

I don't have the L K one mentioned above in my local Amazon,  unless I get it from Amazon Germany which I can't use Prime in.

The ESR is the easiest and cheapest to get, Amazon Prime, 18 EUR, and next day free home delivery, so it's the least hassle to get the ESR.

If there are downsides you could highlight that is worth the extra hassle to get the Torras or L K instead,  appreciate if you share, for example, not reaching the edge of the screen, is that a noticeable issue, etc? :smiling-face:
