What are backup codes useful for? Can they help with a 'forgotten' PIN?

I have this problem too

So for over a week now I've been pulling my hair out trying to get access to my S24 Ultra. I've owned the phone since release and always used a fingerprint to get in the phone and it randomly demanded a PIN I can't ever recall. I already have one post going through the song and dance here about how everyone elses phone asks them for their PIN every 3 days. Mine didn't. If my phone had, I'd remember it.

Regardless, going through options to try and get access to my phone (I DO NOT want to factory reset my phone- this isnt an option since I want photos off of the device)  and I found what Samsung calls 'backup' codes for lost access. Can these be used to get in my phone or are they some other kind of lost access account tool? Photo attached.

Are these of any use?

One more question- the data that is backed up by Samsungs cloud- (sadly my photos werent, otherwise Id simply factory reset), how do I access it? If I need access to the Samsung device, then the cloud backup does me zero good. The reason I ask is because one of the apps it lists it backs up are Reminders. I have this foolish false hope that if I ever did set a PIN, maybe I put it in there.

>I use fingerprint+ pattern method since 2018 year (on S9+, S21 ultra and present S24 Ultra) and never got PIN locked window to unlock my phone.

And there have been innumerable amounts of Android updates, patches, and bugs since then. Your experience does not invalidate mine. It was a user from this very forum who mentioned this is likely a bug from when Samsung added FRP protections.

>What indicates that you not owner? Well, Samsung user know that Samsung terminated his Cloude Drive for backup photos. It is on top of Samsung Cloud app when you opening it.

What user? This barely makes sense. Who terminated what? If this is about me not setting up cloud backup before hand, hindsight is 20/20. No one ever expects to suddenly lose access to their phone when its worked one way your entire ownership then decides to act another.

>Seems to me looking at your image, you removed original sim card, your phone is locked on network and wifi that original setup.

Yes, I pulled the SIM out of the phone so I can actually receive phone calls and texts to a usable phone, my backup One Plus 9 I was using prior to buying my S24 ultra. I want the SIM in a usable phone, big shock there!

>Funny fuct- all similar cases like yours have identical story- you don't want factory reset because you have important photos you don't wanna loose.

Probably because its a very common scenario. Another big shock. There's a thread of people having the same issue on this very forum.

>As I said, time to time my phone ask me for pattern I used for unlocking phone. This method never changed.

Again, your experience doesn't invalidate others. This bug may have only affected a handful of people. And someone who offers no solution other than alluding to someone stealing a phone , including bringing up another forum does nothing but pollute the thread. If you have no solution, go elsewhere. Especially since you continuously ignore that I would prove ownership if needed (certainly not to you) or if I did steal the device, I would simply factory reset the phone since according to youtube, the FRP lock is one of the easiest to get around.

So again if you cant help, go elsewhere.

I don't known what you expect here, even Samsung said that if you forgot PIN, pattern or password for unlocking phone only solution in that cases is factory reset.

So, do it, do factory reset, you can login in Samsung account with this codes, and offcors you must login in same google account, but hey this is your phone and you know what google account you setup in January. Nobody can save your photos, if they are so important to you  why you didn't saved them on your computer? You learned on hard way that backup is very important
