Text message reaction

Hey. Does anyone know how to use emojis to react to text messages? I see people reacting to mine but I am unable to do it myself. I have tried holding down & checked chat settings, that just greys out when I select it.

Works on both, but I use Google messages and I can react to messages as long as other person has RCS enabled or carrier supports it

I have just switched back to Google messages & tried it on an RCS message & it worked. For some reason, it doesn't show as RCS on samsung messages. Thank you for your help.

I have tirned on RCS in Google and still can't use reactions in Google messaging, not either in Samsung Messages. I have tried flipping back and forth, turning rcs on and off, clear cache in both messaging apps, installed Google Carrier Services, rebooted. Nothing works. I am replying to rcs text messages from friends who have reacted to my messages, so both sides have rcs activated.
