After updating to this garbage one UI 7 thing now if I delete any texts in a conversation it leaves a date time stamp in place of the text I deleted. How do I fix this to delete everything like it used to? I've been with Samsung since the Note 1 and I have an s24 ultra now this will be the last Samsung that I buy. This update is beyond garbage my battery life is horrible now and the text message thing is the end of the road for me.

Firstly- what messaging app are you using? Tested myself on the standard google messages and it seems to do the same as you.

*edit- just tested on samsung messages and this doesnt happen. Download and use samsung messages if its such a burden- till move all chats and everything over for you

*pixle users are also reporting battery issues....seems to be a android 15 issue- attempted any troubleshooting? So by the looks of it youll experience this on any device- unless you move to IOS?

I am using ui8 beta on s25 and my battery life has been improved quite a lot.

Google messages not doing it either. If using Instagram update it as fixes the reported issues across android sphere

Wiping phone cache partition also helps after updates

I would hope it's not Instagram, because they said they're mad at UI7… never know.

My Google Messages does do it, but I haven't questioned it—not an issue, IMO.

I'm also using Google messages. I have no idea how to switch all my messages over to Samsung. If I'm not mistaken I started using Google messages because Samsung's talk to text is even worse than Google's honestly can't remember though it's been a while. Not sure why they would make this change I don't understand what anyone can benefit from with having date and time stamps and what type of message it was in a text string. Myself and the other managers throughout the country have text strings and there's a lot of bloat that gets in them and I used to delete it out of there so I could just keep the meat and potatoes of it and now there's blanks with date and timestamps which is completely unacceptable

It's definitely not Instagram I don't even have that on my phone. If it wasn't important stuff that involves work I would just delete the whole conversation and I wouldn't have the problem. I didn't have the problem until this lousy update. I think Samsung needs to focus on Samsung quit trying to be iPhones. The last watch I bought mimics and I watched the last headphones I bought mimic the iPhone headphones. What next you're going to screw up my TVs?

Install and open up Samsung messages, you should then be able to see your messages before you accept it as your default messages app, even if it does ask you to switch to it as a default app before you can see your messages you can still move back to the one you are using now without any message getting lost/deleted and set that as a default one again. You won't need to go into the phone to set either as a default one because it will pop up as soon as you open them up

As the other comment suggested, when you open Samsung Messages, it will ask you to allow permissions, and it will automatically move all chats.

Samsung did not make this change; Google did. As to "why," no clue.

Just checking now, and the Talk to Text seems the same on both.
