Should I change CSC?

Recently my company assigned me to a new role so I am moving to Europe and particularly Italy.

My device CSC is set to United Arab Emirates (Even though I am not in UAE at all) and I wanted to change it to EUX which is specifically for western side of Europe.

I noticed here that my device CSC can be set to Italy as well: https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-S921B

Here's the question, which one should I choose in first place?

Considering that I am mostly staying in Italy, shouldn't I flash the firmware with italian CSC?

More importantly is it advised to change it from XSG to EUX or TIM (Italy CSC)?

I know how to do it with Odin but isn't it better to ask Samsung customer service for that?

Thanks in advance

I don't believe changing CSC is officially supported, endorsed or even allowed. Flashing firmware voids all warranty and samsung would never want you to do that. Samsung support would also not help in changing firmware region.

Using a phone in a country it wasn't not designed for causes unexpected issues. Some features might not work and updates might just break.

So yes you can physically do it. But if you warranty your phone for some reason in the future or try to sell it, you might have big problems.

Kinda just use it in the new country. If you experience issues or strange things, you can consider maybe doing it. But I advise against it

I doubt Samsung CS would accommodate such request. See how it works as is when you get there then look into changing it if need be

That's a shame, I am not trying to do that myself as I've heard it is tricky to do so without flashing the whole new firmware.

But let's say I do that with odin. A clean reinstall of the OS (flashing the device) woth for example EUX CSC, this shouldn't be a problem, right? It's simply flashing the device. I just loose my data, which is why I am looking for an official way of doing that

I might end up buying a new phone then, does Samsung accept trade in of phones with a different region?

Hey there

Samsung CS will not help you with this.

You are effectively changing the official software, what's to say you don't install a dodgy version even via ODIN.

Not recommended as stated above

In terms of official. You can flash the firmware designed for your device in case things break. If you flash firmware that wasn't designed for your device, I believe that voids warranty as things can break and that isn't what your phone was made for. You are kinda modifying the software away from what samsung intended it to be.

Reason being someone could buy cheap phones in 1 country, flash them to another country and sell them there for a profit. That's more my thoughts but makes sense. Plus not every phone might be the same in hardware

Odin itself I don't believe is all that official. The only official firmware flash is the one inside smart switch on a pc. Odin is for samsung themselves go do things, it isn't really for us to be tampering with

Thanks for the answer, I avoid it then.

May I ask if you know my phone can be traded in over there?

You'll have to speak to Samsung on that one.

Not a question I've seen answered on here I'm afraid.

Sorry
