Scrolling swipes continuously mistaken for touch inputs or omitted completely

I'm having issues scrolling and it's driving me mad. This is also happening on my replacement device (I sent the first back as it appeared faulty with this issue).

My device does one or multiple of the following at random times:
  • Only registers the very start or end of the swipe gesture depending on which direction my thumb is swiping which leads to the scrolling either completely stopping / slowing to a crawl or instead mistakenly registering as a touch input
  • Only registers a partial, much shorter swipe input than my thumb actually provided with screen contact
  • Misses swipes entirely with no touch input registered since the previous swipe
  • Registering touch input but not actually applying as a swipe within the apps etc
Validated the above with the following developer settings which allows you to see what's happening with your touches under input:
  • Show taps
  • Pointer location
Happens with fast and slow swipes
Happens in apps that don't require network access.

Touching and holding my finger on the screen whilst dragging around seems fine (passes diagnostic tests) but multiple concurrent swipe gestures regularly fails miserably.

I also noticed missing swipes using the s pen and if anything it was worse.

Here are some examples within the Samsung Members app:

Every touch is a similar swipe input and you can clearly see it's not registering some of my inputs correctly when it just stops multiple times.

Here's an example of it happening within HotUKDeals:

My S24U is affected, too (as probably all of them are).

I noticed that a swipe gesture is more often ignored if it starts exactly at the point where the previous one ended, so it might be something related to repeated touch rejection in the touch screen firmware.

I submitted feedback describing this via Samsung Members but got no response.

I hope Samsung fixes this in a software update.
