Any one struggling with this irritating problem? My Samsung s24 ultra sunlight readability fades after 5 mins and won't return and is so dim looks like I've turned the brightness down to less than half yet it's still set to 100%?

It an original from day 1 release, wondering if newer ones since have this issue also as not much on line when I search.

I suspect it's doing that to stop your phone overheating, maximum brightness is not meant to be used for hours plus it probably preserves your screen from damage. It's like torches with a turbo mode, a couple of minutes of super brightness then automatically drop down.

Hi  @RockhopperJ  🤔

If I set my brightness to full it stays that way until I adjust it.

Yours should be the same.

Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²⁵ Ultra 512Gb ~ Titanium Black.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.

Yeah, brightness is at full or 100% and Adaptive Brightness is on (as is Adaptive Colour Tone), I don't change it. Sometimes I don't get any enhanced sunlight readability and sometimes I do, but it then fades quickly and will only return with either a: a power cycle or b: about 40 mins later.

However, when it dims, it's dimmercthan my previous S10 Ultra Plus which didn't go anywhere as bright as the S24 can do but always remained bright enough to read in full fun🤷

Fair point, although when I say after 5 mins, that's not always consecutive use time. Sometimes it doesn't punch up the brightness at all, and is dimmer than my old S10 Ultra Plus at full brightness setting which didn't have this feature 🤷

If you download good guardians, then go to thermal guardian and press additional settings, and turn off 'decrease brightness when overheating' and it should stop dimming

I've had the same problem with my screen where I couldn't see it while I was on holiday, however when I discovered this setting I couldn't test it so I'm not sure how good it works, but try and let me know :smiling-face:

Thanks @Dark_Reiging2 found that app in the Samsung app store. I've just installed it and made the settings change, let's see how I get on now for a bit👍 I'll share back any progress

facing pretty much same issue since the day i bought the device, my partner laughing at me with her s23 plus being way brighter when used in the exactly same conditions in fact my old s23 was way better in terms of readablity outdoors...

Likewise, my older S10 Ultra Plus was substantially more stable, brighter and visible in full sun than my S24 Ultra 😡

I'm just trying our the suggestion by @DarkReiging2, but sadly not much noticeable difference if any at all so far🤷

this phone definitely has thermal management issues as things i've already tried are the thermal guardian set the threshold 2 degrees lower, power saving mode, 5g off, light performance profile... can't say that summers in the uk are very hot but it does dim alot when cloudy as well also noticed that taking just a few pictures with the "intelligent processing" will instantly dim the phone screen out.. that was last time i'm spending this much on a phone.
