Samsung S24 Ultra Battery Issues

Hello!

I've read quite a few discussions both on here and Reddit about the S24 Ultra battery drainage but I can't seem to find out if my phone is working properly or not.

When I got the phone I transfered all my data from my previous Z Flip 4 through Smartswitch, and when the process completed I noticed that overnight the battery was draining extremely fast.

I checked and I had Google Play Services interfering like crazy, so I tweaked a few things and managed to behave normally.

I don't know what I did and my notifications stopped working unless I turned wi-fi on, so after messing around the settings I also managed to resolve that issue.

I've been using this phone for a week, and I've noticed that the battery is not draining too fast now per se, but if I use apps like Instagram, X, Aliexpress and so on the battery drops way faster, even if I keep power saving on and I don't use maximum resolution and the best features on.

After a full charge and careful usage, I end the day with something like 50-60% battery left.

Is it ok? Should I restore to factory settings and install my apps from scratch? Am I worrying over nothing?

Personally I'd start off with Wiping the Partition Cashe on the phone.
If you've had the phone a week, it initially goes through a battery learning process. During this battery life can be inconsistent

But I'd definitely try the Wipe Partition Cashe before resetting the phone

Wiping the Partition Cashe clears out a lot of old or corrupted information that can cause issues

Follow the steps below. You must follow every step and you should be done in about a minute

Turn off your phone.

Connect your phone with a USB cable
to PC or another Samsung mobile

You will see the charging icon on your screen.
Wait till it shows charging with battery percentage.

Next, press and hold the Volume up and Side key simultaneously.
You can press the volume up button just before the Side key.
The Samsung Logo followed by
Samsung Galaxy appears on the
screen.

At this point, release the keys
Phone will boot into Android Recovery mode

In Android recovery mode, using Volume keys, choose "Wipe Cache
Partition" .
Use the power button to accept that.
You will then see its cleared.

You can also go into repair apps before going into rebooting

Then the top option, reboot phone.
Press the power button to reboot the phone and then sign in normally

Maybe do a factory reset and don't use smart switch to move everything over.

Yes i just used myS24 ultra since lunch from the 31st January. I feel the battery drain is very fast from 100%  it just take me for 10 hours??? Comapre with S23 Ultra it can resist for 13Hours 30 minutes. I'm really2 dissapointed to use this S24 Ultra considering back to use my S23 Ultra perhaps i will miss the AI function. Also the camera is very out of exposure compare with S23 Ultra is really bad...

I'll start with wiping the partition cache first and see how it goes, if things don't go smoother I'll consider restoring to factory reset.

I noticed that the temporary backup from Samsung is powered by smartswitch too, should I use another cloud?

Also what is the ideal battery life span for this phone?

I thought ending the day at 60/50 % of moderate usage and with power saving was good but maybe the battery can do way better and I'm mistaken (screen time is up to 3/4 hours).

Mine was fine but now it's draining slightly faster.

I'd say that's not bad myself.
It really depends on what you have installed, your settings and also network provider strength. Especially with 5G
For me personally, if I can have all the features on, like the screen on 1440p etc. Still get a full day of use.
I don't mind charging every day.
Stick it on basic charging over night. That's great for me.
I also turn off fast wireless charging as I charge wirelessly overnight

When you first setup the phone and Google play services was acting like crazy did you check if there was an update available for Google play services?

Also worth noting its normal for the phone to drain quickly once setup because even though everything looks setup there are still things happening in the background like syncing photos, emails, app settings etc. I usually set my phone up at night and leave it charging and then go to bed.

Certain apps don't always move across well so are constantly running in the background for example Google photos has caused me issues in the past where it was constantly trying to sync photos when there were no more to sync.

The first couple of weeks the S24 Ultra will learn your phone usage patterns and when the learning is completed you should find battery life improved.

My own s24 ultra has everything switched on to max, highest resolution, highest frame rate, nothing is set to power saving. I also have Bluetooth on constantly as I use my Galaxy watch 6 classic, nfc is always on as I use Samsung pay, wifi is always on and I have 2 sim cards in the phone and both are in constant use. On average if I use my phone moderately say 3 to 4hrs SOT then it will last me around 24hrs before needing to be charged.
