Update: Samsung didn't want to let me send my phone in for an in-warranty repair. I filed a BBB complaint and they agreed to allow me to.
The techs said they couldn't find anything and I was asked to call in. I called and talked to Samsung Care, they said the person handling my BBB complaint didn't put any notes in as to what the techs were looking for. They said they updated it and asked the techs to look again. I got an email not even an hour later I believe, stating that per my request Samsung was sending the device back to me.
I flipped. Device came back. Wouldn't even connect to the carrier at all. Had to delete all eSIM twice. US Cellular got it connected at least. Samsung told me they are done replying to me and I won't hear from them again, the matter is closed as far as they are concerned. I called the Presidential Office, fancy name for higher support. They said they have no supervisors, no bosses, and I can't talk to anyone else, they can't talk to me, and the person handling my case refuses to discuss it further.
I have an open case with the Attorney General, hopefully US Cellular resolves it if Samsung won't. This is why Apple is better than Samsung in some regards, and why I'll be switching to OnePlus next year.
I had been planning to buy a Samsung appliance set and scrapped that after this experience. Looking into other options, probably GE. Samsung support post-purchase is beyond garbage.

Thank ya'll. I appreciate every comment on this thread & guess I have to get a new phone from a different company. Crushed because I've now lost a great deal of money on this S24 Ultra. Issue began with Note 20 and the S24 Ultra I bought to "fix" the problem has the exact same thing. I changed service from Verizon to a provider which uses TMobile towers. On my very inexpensive A53 - this service is absolutely EXCELLENT. Never misses a lick & has service in areas I've never had before. Not so for either the Note 20 or S24 Ultra. When changing towers, both Note 20 and S24 Ultra disconnect (circle with slash thru it where service bars are), and never reconnect to service until I reboot or do the airplane mode. I have spent October 23- until now with the carrier, trying to find solution. I have a cheap Samsung A53 on the SAME service & it works like a champ - I never ever lose service on it - during which time I watch the lovely very expensive Note 20 and now S24 Ultra - disconnect & never reconnect until I reboot or airplane mode. Yes, my carrier has spent dozens of hours on tech support with me trying to solve (cach clear, network settings reset, I can't even remember all of the many, many many things we did) And my Carrier then reached out with me directly to Samsung. Carrier got on the phone, explained all of the things we had done & Samsung basically said well, that's all that we would recommend you must not have an unlocked phone... After talking extensively then with Samsung I pre ordered directly from Samsung the S24 Ultra ( I need the stylus) as Samsung said that is the only way to insure that it is truly unlocked. Same problems with S24 - constantly. it disconnects from service apparently when changing towers and will not reconnect until I reboot or do the airplane mode. Thank ya'll for sharing all that you have tried. it stinks. I hate changing, and hate even more losing some $2000 plus dollars on a very, very expensive lesson. I just deeply loved the Note from the Note 2 till now. But thank ya'll for mentioning that the OnePlus works well.

Hey guys, I was having consistent issues over the last month, I've been able to get a stable connection by disabling the "turn off 5G" mode when power saver is enabled. Hopefully this helps a few people out. Samsung still needs to fix it but it should provide a much better experience until they get their act together

Update: I did a test to make absolutely certain before complaining to Samsung and I got a prepaid sim directly from T-Mobile. I confirmed with Tmobile that the pre-paid would work exactly as a post paid (same towers, no slow down, etc.) - I have tested it everywhere I had problems with my provider that is "running on T-mobile towers", and the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra worked like a champ. It no longer stayed disconnected when changing towers, and even when absolute dead spots of no cellular service of any kind, it hopped right back in-service when service was available. That said, my other phone, a very inexpensive Samsung phone, on the same provider that leases TMobile or "rides on TMobile towers" never had the disconnection problem at all. So, I still don't know why the cheap Samsung phone would have far better connectivity overall than either of the Flagship phones. Apparently I will have stick with the more expensive plans for the more expensive phone to stay connected. Very sad. But only choice & at least it works. Thank everyone for posting, about the issue. it is very frustrating.

Hi Kathy, I just want to see if I understand your comment correct. Are you saying when you tested your phone on a different prepaid sim it started working? Thus perhaps it's a problem with our SIM cards?
For the record I'm in South Africa and I'm experiencing the exact same issues. I got the new phone last week and it keeps disconnecting. I didn't get a new SIM card with the phone so I'm wondering if perhaps my SIM is "outdated" in some sense.

Oh my, I am in the same situation. A few weeks ago, my Note 20 Ultra decided to frequently drop its connection to the network and every time I attempt to dial out, I get "The device is not registered on a network..." I just ordered the S24U in hopes that'll resolve this. After reading your comment and the many comments on this thread, I am not so hopeful.
I spent countless hours with my carrier and Samsung to resolve this to no avail. We have tried everything mentioned in this thread. Toggling Airplane Mode on and off seems to temporarily resolve the issue but I find myself doing that many many times a day. That's just not acceptable.
I have 15 days to try out the new phone. If it still has the same issue. I'll be sending back.
