I updated my Samsung S24 with the latest version of OneUI/Android - build number is now UPO1A.231995.007.S921BXXU5AYA5.

Since doing that my phone is no longer able to connect to any cellular network.  WiFi and Bluetooth are ok.  WiFi calling works.  But no 5G/LTE etc.  When I go to Settings > Connections > Mobile networks > Network operators then toggle Select automatically I get the message "Error while searching for networks".  This happens for both physical SIMs in the phone, both of which work fine with other phones.

I have experienced exactly the same problem with a Samsung A53 5G both when updating the phone software, or switching off Flight Mode. Both times that happened I resolved the issue by doing a factory reset which is extremely inconvenient. I actually switched to this new S24 because I thought there may be a hardware issue with the A53.  But now it seems pretty clear there is a fault in the Galaxy updates.

  • I have tried wiping the cache partition, as suggested on some sites and forum posts.  That has not resolved the issue.
  • I have rebooted the phone multiple times.
  • I have turned off and on mobile data, and each of the SIM cards in SIM Manager.
  • I have removed and reinserted the SIM cards.
  • I have reset the Access Point Names for both SIM cards
  • I have disabled and reenabled Flight mode.
  • Factory reset phone and setup again.
  • Switched the SIM cards.

None of the above fix the issue.

I note that there are a LOT of reports of this issue on these forums, many of which mention the issue arising after updating the software and some reporting that the cellular connection worked fine after factory reset.  But a factory reset is in no way an acceptable fix. It takes several hours to restore settings, and if this happens somewhere there is no WiFi then you are out of luck.

Another common things with these forum posts is there is never any official response from Samsung.

Has anyone got any closer to understanding what is going on, or a reliable fix (that isn't one of the long list mentioned above)?

Factory reset hasn't resolved the issue this time.

I've narrowed down the issue to handling of multiple SIM cards.  Since the last update, if I have both SIM cards enabled, the phone won't connect to the network of either - if I go to Connections > Mobile networks > Network operators and then toggle Select automatically for either SIM, the error message "Error while searching for networks".  If I disable one of the SIMs in Connections > SIM Manager or physically remove a SIM, then the other SIM connects as usual, and toggling "Select automatically" scans and displays the different services available.

Looks like a bug in the update relating to using multiple SIMs.

I have the A53 5g and have been experiencing the same for the past year with numerous factory reset as the only solution. I'm currently experiencing and really don't want to factory reset again!!! Did you have any luck with Samsung helping?

I just updated my S24 ultra last night now I have no access to my sim so no phone calls or internet, wifi still works, Ive tried everything and nothing has worked. My sim works in my wifes phone and her sim does the same in my phone. I have noticed the aeroplane symbol is a light green colour like not fully on but I can still switch that on and off. I preordered my 1tb s24 ultra direct from samsung and now a little over a year it seems like it is junk as its useless unless im near wifi range.

Having the same issue. Post some updates over the last few weeks from Samsung (S24 Ultra), anything data related has severe drop-outs or doesn't work at all. Text messages work ok at times, but any apps requiring internet, phone calls, accessing a webpage - anything data related - completely cactus. It is worst in areas further out of city centres where coverage naturally may reduce, eg currently on a site for work and other people with my carrier and a different phone have no issues with their phone whereas mine is unusable. When I get back home, it returns to a more normal usability, but still has issues and calls drop out when at home.

I've wiped the cache partition through the boot menu, SIM card has also been replaced... what's the potential solution here? Is there a place where Samsung lists known bugs post update and state their progress on resolving them? Or a place to report such bugs?

Thanks,

S24 ultra - just got hit with this exact same issue.  New One UI 7.0 installed today with android 15 - build AP3A...BYCH

Issues with network data services - calls go through but network data is not working.
