S24 fingerprint scanner visible when the screen is off

The fingerprint scanner is visible on the screen even when it's turned off. Is this an intentional design or a manufacturing defect?

In order for the finger print sensor to read your finger print.
It needs to see through the screen. So shining a light on the screen will make the spot more visible
It's the same thing with all in screen finger print sensors
