There have some debate about upgrading from S23 Ultra to S24 Ultra.

GSM arena had an interesting comparison.

https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s24_ultra_vs_samsung_galaxy_s23_ultra_review_battery_camera_...

The S24 Ultra edges the S23 Ultra, but not by huge margins. As said before, upgrade is not a matter of need, but want.

I am sure both phone will be quite technologically adequate for a few years to come.

Technology enthusiast, but not related to any technological company.

Agree, S23 Ultra is still a fantastic phone and one that's overcome all it's little bugs etc.The S24 Ultra is Aesthetically beautiful though. The AI could be so much more in my opinion.

I would have an S23U, just because S24U needs some serious firmware updates for the camera, otherwise, great phone. Interesting that both phones are same price and they are a year apart. It's up to you, but ATM I am a bit frustrated with the camera quality and no news on updates or anything. It's up to you though, you can wait or you can upgrade. From what I can see from those who compare the phones, they both have great battery life, S23U is going to get AI updates so you win even if you wait a year or two for the S25U or S26U, I'm sure the AI will be perfected by than. Besides, I hope Samsung will bring back 10x optical zoom instead of 5x optical zoom that they've put on the S24U, I'm sure it's got something to do with camera focus and sharpness.

I think it also comes down to personal preferences. For example I did not get the S23 Ultra due to it being a curved screen. I went for the S23+.

I only upgraded to the S24Ultra because it had a flat screen. The camera and AI features are not that important to me. So in my case if the S23Ultra had a flat screen, I would not upgrade to the S24Ultra. I don't think I will be upgrading now until at least the S27/S28 Ultra. Having said that, I am easily swayed by the latest and greatest gadgets!

S23 ultra is a solid phone if you have one already I would keep it for at least another three years

I love the curved screens, I think I am still not fully used to the flat screen yet, since the S8 all my phones had curved screen with only a short term exception when I had a Poco for 8 months or so.

Yes I agree with GSM Arena too. Personally I prefer the slightly curved screen of the S23U, but the S24U seems better for using the s pen and for fitting glass screen protectors. To me it's definitely an incremental upgrade but I was tempted by having the latest!

Totally agree @Reylob

For me the change to the flat screen and more boxy design along with the next new Qualcomm Snapdragon Soc clinched it for me along with other enhancements.

Did I need a new phone ? No.

My Samsung Galaxy s²² Ultra and Samsung Galaxy s²³ Ultra are in pristine condition and work perfectly.

Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²⁵ Ultra 512Gb ~ Titanium Black.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.

Whilst  this would have  basically been my impression , nonetheless always good to  see some detailed analysis.  Whilst the S24 Ultra may be be better the demand has been a fair bit to do  witrh the desire to have the latest and best handset,design/Aesthetics playing a part.  The marketing /media also created a lot of hype.

I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.
