2) Have you tried resetting the phone app? (Keep the app clicked > click app info > force stop and then open the app again.)

I do not find my speakers with poor sound on phone calls, but that it is subjective. If you note a difference between media and calls. That is most likely a software bug that might be resolved on future updates.
However, have you checked these settings?
Settings -> Sounds and vibration -> Volume -> System and check that the System volume is toggle as much as the Media
Phone calls might be considered a System process.
