Notifications sound issues

My notifications sounds are so low that they're barely even noticeable, I keep missing text messages because of it. I've checked all the sound settings, nothing is muted and everything is on max volume. This is a significant issue for me as I need to be able to hear it when I receive a text message for my job.

Such an expensive flagship phone shouldn't have such issues, this is a bit ridiculous to be honest. I've never had any issues hearing notifications on any other device ever. What on earth is going on with the low sound?

Welcome to the Community Forum @MrM86

Please go to Settings -> Sound and notifications - > Volume

And adjust the volume slider for Notifications accordingly. You might also want to increase the system volume.

After this you should be able to hear the notifications.

Did you do a smart Switch?

Regardless try the below.

Did you try a Wipe Cache?

Did you Try a RESET of all Settings?

This does not work. All volume sliders are set to max. The sound is fine when playing videos or music, it's just the notification sound specifically that is quiet. I've noticed that it is only playing the sound through the bottom speakers.

No smart switch, and I've factory reset the phone twice now.

A quick Google search tells me that I'm not the only person experiencing this issue with notifications sound being too low to hear.

So did you factory reset and start from scratch?

Or you got your settings from backup?

I'd still try the reset all Settings .

If Not best to take it in to a service centre or ask for an exchange.

It appears to be an issue with the S24 software. Many people are reporting the same issues. I don't think exchanging it will help, I've just read a post saying that they exchanged the phone, only to have the same issue with the new phone.

Bizarrely, the notifications sound plays at normal volume when selecting a ring tone, but is barely audible when receiving a text message. So there's nothing actually wrong with the speakers on the phone, this is surely a software issue.

Fair enough. Yeah I have seen some people reporting it.

I hate them notifications personally 😒. Mine is set to 2% or something or prefer them off.
Hate them like there is no tomorrow.

Have you tried the Device Care App?  On Diagnostic -> Phone Diagnostic -> the Speaker test.

Have you tried changing the notification sound on:

Settings -> Sound and notifications - > Notification sound

Is the volume low when trying the different sound options?

I would also try wiping the cache and the cache partition as suggested by @GoanGeek.

It could well be that there is a fault with your speakers. I find the notifications very loud on my S24 Ultra. It should not be too different on the S24 and S24+

I hate notifications too and turn them all on silent, but it's essential for my job that text message notifications are audible.
