Hi
I was excited to get the new one ui 7.0 update on my s24u .. , imagine the surprise , after the update I did a quick geekbench 6 test cpu test:
11 April after one ui 7 : single score 1440 , multi 5974. Before update 10 sept 2024 : single score 2274 , multi 6781

Now the gpu test : 18 Jan 2024 , 16079 points
After one ui 7 , 24 April 2025 8167.
What the hell Samsung?? Tests have been done in performance mode.

Samsung is intentionally slowing down older models??

Give it a few days then try again. Your phone might have been hot from the update or the phone could still be doing background tasks post update

There'll be some temporary thing causing that. I can't believe samsung would nuke performance that badly

These are just my thoughts below, and do not represent any official response or news from samsung.

Obviously oneui7 has literally just been released, hasnt necessarily been fully optimised, and there is a lot of activities going on still in bug fixes. I mean this is still ongoing with the S25 and which was natively released with ui7 !!

As an example there are a lot of app updates being pushed constantly, developers are still working on their new versions to support Android 15, and chipset optimisations are still constantly being done.

The fact that there has been a lot of criticism for the rollout of oneui7 and with a timely release, may also have a consequence about whether this s24u software has been fully optimised for the new ui7.

With that out of the way, do you really think that your quick geekbench comparative test is a fair reflection of the overall performance of the phone at this early stage, and after a first official release rollout only last week. Only having had little chance to perform any of these optimisations to the hardware ??

My opinion. No.

Give Samsung some time to get these items tweaked, optimised and in a good working state before making such assumptions. In a couple more monthly updates you may find this improves considerably.

Are samsung intentionally slowing down a one year old phone ??

I mean come on. What a naiive statement that really is !

It feels like people come here to try poke holes in any shape or form to dampen the effect of receiving timely updates.

It's called software upgrade, not downgrade.

I can only assume from your initial comments and response that you are not an engineer, or have any understanding of software and hardware engineering in general ?

Maybe a good suggestion to leave the engineering to those software developers in Samsung.

Whilst I do understand your frustration, just give them some time to optimise things. You cannot expect everything to be fully optimised and work perfectly with the very first update rollout.

Just as a closing comment, geekbench, antutu, 3dmark. and other benchmark tools are 'artificially generated' and do NOT represent the typical daily use of a phone. These benchmarks are designed to stress a phone far outside of its normal needs.

Just show a little patience and in a month or two I expect it will be better.
