How to Make My Galaxy S24 Always Open to the Home Screen Instead of the Last Used App?

Hi everyone,

I want to set my Galaxy S24 to always open to the home screen when I unlock it, instead of going back to the last app I used before locking the phone.

Does anyone know how to configure this setting or if it's possible to make this change?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi, yes of course. You need to first install Good Lock from the Samsung Store. That might be why you didn't see the options before. Open Good Lock, click on "Life Up" on the bottom right and then Routines +. You need this for the touch macro. Then to set up the routine go to settings>Modes and Routines>click on Routines (bottom right) and then the + at the top. Click on the + in the if block scroll down to Routines+ and tap Unlock with fingerprint. In the + in the Then block click Functions then Navigation button actions then make sure Home is selected and tap Save.

It sounds complicated but it's really easy, let me know how you get on!

I always return to the home screen no matter how many apps are open in background and I am always shown the home screen when I unlock it. I'm not sure there's another way than this. Sometimes it's good to close all applications running in the background

Hi @Sem2025 and warm welcome 👋

If you had an app opened, let's say members' app and lock your screen and unlock it. It will bring you to the app you been previously if you close the app before locking your phone it should not bring you to last used app and bring to the home screen.

I understand what you wrote. I was just wondering if there’s a way to set in the settings so that the phone always opens to the home screen by default after unlocking, without closing the apps or having to manually go back to the home screen before locking the phone.

Try going back to the home screen before you turn the phone off. It's only one tap away!

You could add a routine to add a home navigation button action when the phone is unlocked with a fingerprint. Here's an example. When you unlock using a fingerprint you will see the app briefly before the routine brings you to the home screen1736667397480.jpg

That's an excellent idea! Could you please elaborate on the steps to make it work? I can’t seem to find the setting where the trigger for the routine is defined as unlocking with a fingerprint. It would be incredibly helpful if you could provide screenshots of each step. Thank you so much!
