Hi. I currently have the Google Pixel 8 128GB for 6 months now and i'm looking to replace it.
This may sound a stupid question but if we consider the chipset, RAM and UFS storage which phone feels more responsive and feels faster in opening apps and especially the camera shutter: Pixel 8 8GB (on UFS 3.1) or Galaxy S24 8GB 256GB version with UFS 4.0?

Additionally, Exynos 2400 chipsets in the Galaxy S24 are likely to provide better overall performance compared to the Tensor G3 in the Pixel 8. In terms of camera performance, both phones have impressive camera setups, but the faster storage and more powerful chipset in the Galaxy S24 might give it an edge in terms of camera shutter speed and processing times. Overall, the Galaxy S24 with UFS 4.0 storage is likely to feel more responsive and faster in opening apps and especially the camera shutter compared to the Pixel 8 with UFS 3.1 storage
Read Speed: UFS 4.0 can achieve read speeds of up to 4200 MB/s, which is approximately 2x faster than UFS 3.1, which has read speeds of up to 2100 MB/s. Write Speed: UFS 4.0 can achieve write speeds of up to 2800 MB/s, which is about 1.6x faster than UFS 3.1, which has write speeds of up to 1200 MB/s.
In terms of raw performance, Exynos 2400 chipsets in the Galaxy S24 are likely to offer better overall performance compared to the Tensor G3 in the Pixel 8. The higher clock speeds and more advanced architecture of Exynos 2400 should provide a noticeable improvement in responsiveness and speed.

Camera shutter speeds will vary, but Pixels are known for their quick shutter response, so if you're looking for improvement here, I would look elsewhere. Pictures can be taken in many ways, and just having a faster feeling shutter is only a small portion of the process. If this is the only aspect that's important for you, I'd suggest staying with the Pixel.

Hi @johnz237
The S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra do not use Exynos 2400.
All three models are based on Qualcomm SM8650-AC Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (4 nm) in the USA and Canada.
International version, S24 Ultra Qualcomm SM8650-AC Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (4 nm) and S24, S24+ Exynos 2400.
You are right, the S24 will offers better overall performance, faster storage and the CPU is also faster and more efficient .

I thought the UK version was Exynos? That's what my phone had—and only the US/Canada got the Snapdragon.

Hi @Gino76ph
I would go for the S24. It is a good phone with decent camera capabilities. Pixels are known to be fast shooters and good in the camera department.
The S24 series has a functionality which might seem a slower shooter. When touching the shooter bottom, the phone wait a bit to see if it is just a touch or long press to record video, this could be disable to make it faster.
The storage is definitely faster and will improve the overall performance.
You need to think which is the most important feature you are looking for and the budget. Pixel 8 Pro or 9 may have the advantage in the shooter speed.
Good luck with whichever you choose.

I stand corrected. You are right, I got confused with the S23 series which was SD on all markets for all three models. I am on S24 Ultra and that played with my mind.
S24 Ultra was SD on all markets.
S24 and S24+ Exynos 2400 for the international version, SD for USA and Canada.

@Gino76ph whilst agreeing with the opinions expressed, wonder if you would consider the S25. There is definitely a speed upgrade compared to it's predecessor and you have the advantage of the snapdragon 8 Elite chip. It also offers more memory with 12GB of RAM. That being said you may find better offers in some places for the S24.
Can see some comparisons in this article https://www.techradar.com/phones/samsung-phones/samsung-galaxy-s25-vs-galaxy-s24

Phones nowadays all do the same thing and really boils down to what you want.
If you like the pixel UI and design go for their 9 series.
If you wanna try something new like Samsung the S24 and S2r series are really up there.
Do remember Pixels have vanilla software experience so don't really need that much of speed etc.
With Samsung and others because they have their own UI on top of vanilla android they need the extra speed in memory etc.
Lots of YouTube videos you can have a look between whichever phones you go for.
I have settled for Samsung as I can turn them Into glorified Pixels if I want to and/or go back to Samsung apps. 😊

Hi 👋 @Gino76ph
I'd suggest to have hands on as that's the only real way to assess between the two 😉
Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²⁵ Ultra 512Gb ~ Titanium Black.
The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "
