Google messages pop-ups

How do you turn off Google messages pop-up notifications. I have the pop-up notifications turned off but it still notifies with pop-ups on the screen. The help function just takes you to irrelevant articles

Do you mean the bubbles if so go to settings then notifications then advanced settings then floating notifications then adjust them there.

There aren't advance settings in notifications
