Google Assistant problem, help? 🙏

Hi everyone, I recently got a s24 ultra and when my screen is locked and off and I press the headphones button to talk to the assistant the screen turns on and a pop up with the assistant comes up at the bottom. It's very inconvenient, especially that I use the assistant when I'm walking or at the gym (when the phone is in my pocket) and I don't want to turn the screen on, with my other phone I could talk to it with the screen off and also the results were better (this pop up tries to search everything online or asks me to unlock my phone for everything). Ive literally tried everything and can't find a solution, wondering what happens to other people who has a s24 phone? Thanks

Yes, that's "on" to use my the assistant on lock screen and get personal results. My friend also got a s24 ultra few months before myself and it behaves the same way as mine. We are both in the UK. It's *****, as I used to use the assistant when the phone was in my pocket, and now it turns the screen on with that pop up at the bottom. Thanks to both of you for having answered.

Hello!

I had the same problem, where google Assistant wouldn't activate using "Hey Google" when the screen was off. After some extended google search on this issue I found out that I had Adguard activate for the Google app. As soon as I turned it off I was able to initiate Google assistant with the screen off. Please check if you have similar ad blocker activate for the google app or if you have VPN on. Trying turning these off and see it it works.

Hi Joel thank you so much your replying. I don't have Adguard or any ad blocker. When you were able to activate it with the screen off did it remain off or it woke up the screen and a black pop up appeared at the bttm? What phone do you have? Thanks. 🙏

This is the most frustrating part of Samsung ecosystem.  Newer devices almost always change useful features for the worse while adding useless features.

My gf just got the Ultra and Google Assistant (which we use to control so many things in our house no longer works the same when activating from buds and screen off.  It forces her to find her phone and unlock it, regardless of how many times we enable Assistant to be used on lockscreen.

Turning on the lights has become a major hassle for her...when it used to be so simple.

Sorry to hear this, yes it sucks and despite Samsung blaming Google I know for a fact it still works as supposed to in new Google Pixel phones. Does the screen of her phone also wake up when talking to the assistant? Thanks for commenting
