Gear 360 First Generation

So I use a S24 Ultra and have a gear 360 1st gen which no longer connects to my phone and the app just crashes constantly. 

Why do Samsung do this, the camera is fantastic and I used it alot when I first got it. Put it away due to house move and only just found it but now it is useless.

It's definitely not just Samsung
Fact is that the hardware is made to work with an older type of software.
Software changes over the years and eventually, tech like this just can't be made to be compatible.
Similar to my Galaxy Watch S3 Frontier
Sadly that Watch is no longer compatible.
When you think that the Gear 360 has had nearly 8 years
For tech, that's really good

8 years isn't even that old, average life of an office computer is 15 years. A lot more tech in that than this camera. Feels like a lost cause that Samsung released it and then shut everything down in 2020. Like at that point the product was only 4 years old...

Well, you can blame the chipset manufacturer like Qualcomm for making the SD Gen 3 64 bit only. This change has caused a lot of software problems with much legacy software/hardware.

I know 8 years doesn't sound long, but the pace these mobiles have evolved since Android, that may as well be 2 lifetimes ago. Unfortunately you can't judge an office computer to these mobiles, as their shift in advancement is on a whole other level compared to most other tech industries.

Fair enough, there is a company that tricks the chips to still run 32 bit apps, can't be too difficult

Probably not, but like software usually does, it takes time and a need to push through.

Just annoying that they take your money and then 4 years later they abandon the tech and screw over the consumer

I've got exactly the same problem with my gear s3 frontier. I absolutely love this watch and now either have to scrap it or sell it, for next to nothing. I've just ordered a used watch 5 pro from ebay for £160 so hopefully I'll like this as much as my s3 frontier.
