My Samsung Galaxy S24 overheats whenever I use the camera or make a video call. Is there any solution that can fix it?

@Prashant8440: Some heat is to be expected when using power intensive apps such as video calling, however the phone should not be too hot to handle. Have you encountered any error messages related to overheating, or has the Galaxy S24 restarted as a result of higher than expected operating temperatures?

In the meantime, please close any apps while not in use by tapping the Recents button in your Navigation bar (3 vertical lines at the bottom of the screen > Swipe upwards on an app preview to close it, or hit 'Close all'). For further troubleshooting steps, please refer to the guide in the link below.

It is winter season. Room temperature around 20-22° Celsius.

Sometimes the heat on below the back camera is unbearable while on video call. My phone has back cover.

Hi, @virus2, and welcome to the Samsung Community forum. 👋

If your phone gets hot during video calls then please be assured that this type of action can use more power than usual, meaning it is normal for your device feel warmer than normal. However, if you notice your phone getting hot when using it for less resource-heavy tasks, such as browsing the internet or using social media, then there are some troubleshooting steps we can go through to resolve this.

- If you have a case or cover on your phone, please remove this. Additionally, please ensure you are only using an official Samsung charger when charging your phone.

I would also recommend disconnecting any cables from your phone, and then performing a soft reset. To do this, press and hold the Power and Volume down buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds. After this length of time has passed, your phone will restart. This will not delete any data from your phone.

-  Check the battery usage on your phone by following the steps below:

> From the Home screen, swipe either up or down to access your apps.
> Select "Settings".
> Select "Device care".
> Select "Battery".
> Scroll down and select "View details".

If there are any apps using more than 20% of your phone's battery, we would recommend closing these. To do this, select the Recents icon (three vertical lines in the Navigation bat at the bottom of the screen), place your finger on any apps you would like to close, and swipe the app up to the top of the screen.

- Start your phone in Safe mode.

I ask you to start your phone in Safe mode to determine whether a third-party application is affecting its performance. Starting your phone in Safe mode causes it to boot without loading any third-party software or applications.

To do this, press and hold the Power button until you see the Power off icon appear on your screen. Press and hold the Power off icon until you see an icon named Safe mode appear on the screen. Press this icon.

Your phone will restart. Safe mode will now display in the bottom-left hand corner of your phone, to confirm it has been enabled.

Please keep your phone in Safe mode for at least 2 hours. You will still be able to use your phone as normal during this time. If you are not experiencing this issue while it is in Safe mode, then the issue is being caused by a third party app. We would recommend removing any apps you do not recognise.

To take your phone out of Safe mode, simply restart your phone as normal.

Please could you give these steps a try and let me know how you get on? Thanks.
