Flashlight On While Using Camera Without Taking Picture

• Even in the newest S24 Ultra, we are still unable to use the flashlight while in camera mode. I am trying to scan a QR code in a poorly lit room and am unable to turn on the phone light because "another app is controlling it." On that note, it would be nice if I could scan QR codes that I've taken a picture of, because taking a picture is the only way I can capture the QR code with light, but I can't follow the link of a QR code in a picture.

There's probably an app in the Playstore for reading QR codes from images. Check it out.

However, you can achieve what you want and still have the flash light on by swiping down from the top of the screen into the quick access panel and tapping the 'scan QR code' button. You'll have an option to turn on the flash light, then just point the phone at the code.

Was not aware of that, thank you! Still wish the camera would let me keep the light on as sometimes the focusing, as well as knowing the area of intended capture, can pose issues, whereas if the light was kept on I wouldn't have to worry about the focusing or missing something then having to retake the picture. Thank you again!

It is ridiculous that I can't use the torch at the same time as using my camera on my S24+. I work in construction and regularly need to use both at the same time to get clear images in low light. Also, why are the FE earbuds so bad for people to hear me when I'm on a call? Everyone I'm speaking to says that I sound like I'm muffled or they just simply can't hear me at all.

Agree with the above. It is so annoying that I cant use torch while taking a photo. Using a flash light unfocuses the image. Is there any app I can keep the torch on while taking a photo. There must be... on Procore, a construction app it let's you use it at the same time. So maybe there is another app? Hm

It makes no sense that the Galaxy S24 does not allow the flash to stay on before taking a photo. In low-light situations you need to actually see the subject clearly before you press the shutter. Right now the screen stays dark and the flash only fires at the moment of capture. That means you cannot judge depth, distance, focus, shadows or details. It results in worse pictures because you are shooting blind. Every other basic LED light can stay on continuously. The S24 should offer a simple Torch option in Photo mode so users can illuminate the scene first and then take the picture with proper framing and focus. This limitation is unnecessary and makes the camera less usable in dark environments. Unusable if you ask me.. I will go for a Xiaomi if they don't fix this.
