I'll pass on a tip. I have four fingerprints added to my phone, all of the same finger, well, actually my thumb.
I have found that on occasion, some programs don't react well to my fingerprint or screen sensitivity using my S-Pen, but it's the program and not the phone ... and I have proved that to myself.
In Settings / Device care / Diagnostics / Phone diagnostics you can see for yourself just how well Fingerprint recognition works.
I find if I place the fat part of my thumb on the sensor, I have 100 percent chance of the phone 'seeing' my thumbprint.
Take a look there, it's possible you're not placing your finger at the most ideal location, or as I mentioned earlier, it's possible it's the program and not the phone sensor itself. You never know.

@SentienVive Just in case check the Diagnostics to see if any errors detected, likely need to delete fingerprint and reregister though. Whilst some have no issues I think it is best to register a few fingers twice to minimise malfunctions.
If by any chance no resolution afterwards some customers have found clearing the cache partition helps in such circumstances.
1. Turn off the device.
2. Connect To Computer , other Device or TV USB, Press and hold the Volume Up key and then press and hold the Power key
3. When the Android logo displays, release both keys.
4. Wait until the Android system recovery menu options appear.
5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
6. Press Power key to select.
7. Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
8. When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
