Disappearing photos

Anyone help me. I have the new s24 and overnight my pictures in my gallery have disappeared and heartbroken as pics of my best friend who passed away have vanished

If you use Google Photos as a backup, allow the application to make changes, Google has reorganized it, so the application needs time to organize the collection. That's how I apparently lost 113 GB, but everything was sorted after half an hour, Google messed something up with the image transfer medium

Just thought I'd update you. For some kind of miracle my pics have reappeared overnight in my google photos album. Pics from.yrs ago are there now ro that I deleted many moons ago but thankful my best friend pics have come back

Must of been a syncing problem. So glad you got them back. Are you going to leave them in Google or attempt another xfer to Samsung Gallery?

Google turned the library into a collection and the app behaved as if you were using it for the first time and apparently all the pictures disappeared, but in the Google Drive settings you could see that nothing was missing, it still said that I had 113 GB, but the images were not visible until Google Photos uploaded the collection, which in my case took half an hour

Yes, I know all about the Google Photo sync, which is why I mentioned it in my initial reply to OP. However, Samsung file manager points to Google Drive, so those photos could have been visible if old enough.

Yes, agreed. However, it still doesn't explain why folders that were created in Samsung Gallery suddenly disappeared. Possible OP was confused regarding which gallery app they were created in.

Google Drive has not been synchronized with Google Photos since 2018 or 2019, images can be seen in Drive up to that period, but everything after that is saved in Google Photos and is not visible in Drive. After the last upgrade, the link to Photos in Drive was lost , so Google Photos can no longer be opened from Drive

Google Photos can do everything in Samsung Gallery if you allow it to do that

Yes. Unsure how old original copies were, though, so suggested just in case. Anyway, OP hasn't lost any photos, so all good.
