This can happen with powerbanks @Star_girl however they shouldn't get too hot that it can't be handled.
I use an Anker Powerbank that also warms up a little.
I only charge my phone's via Samsung Wireless Chargers at home or work that have inbuilt fans and I use a minimal case too that does not stop any heat dissipation.
Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²⁵ Ultra 512Gb ~ Titanium Black.

Maybe it's possible that your powerbank worked better with the previous phone when providing charge.
Or possibly the previous phone didn't draw charge like the new phone.
There's lots of variables.
