Bring back the 3-position gesture navigation bar! #usability #navigation #android

On the S24, they've made a change to the navigation gesture bar. The old 3-position bar (swipe up for app drawer, home, back) has been replaced with a single bar in the middle that goes home. To go back, you have to swipe in from the sides, and opening the app task drawer is not as straightforward.

I believe it would be beneficial if they provided the option to have the three separate gesture navigation options back. This would allow users to choose the navigation method that they prefer and are most comfortable with. Galaxy S24 Ultra. Galaxy S24+. Galaxy S24

Every time I try to swipe pictures and I close the app because the swipe to the left means "back"... not a good idea Samsung

I signed up just to say YES to this!

Luckily I somehow realized they've done this before I traded my s22U for the s24U.. I'm not switching or even updating my OS until there is a solution.

I even tries that awful apple like one bar bull**** for a day on my s22U and it was terrible so I just ditched the idea of updating. No AI features can make me switching to this new bull**** you did for no reason.

Thanks for taking away features but not this time

After years of happily using the three lines it was automatic for me to use them, then after the UI update it changed them to gestures. I hate it, I was trying to go back and now closes the app. I had to find it in the settings, see gesture was implemented without my consent and removed the three lines, only other option is the three normal buttons which I have to use because with gestures I kept closing apps when I just wanted to go back. Am I not important enough to Google/android/Samsung UI development to be warranted a function which I liked. #bringbackthethreelines #gesturesareannoying #UIfail

PLEASE bring this back. I use GoodLock and have swiping from the sides doing other things. I'm using the GoodLock workaround to have the main swipe gestures on the bottom, BUT they no longer rotate with the screen, so if I'm in landscape mode, it conflicts with my swipe from side gestures because the navigation bar is still on the side as well.

This was very much a "if it's not broken, don't fix it" situation. There was zero need to change this, and by doing so, more things are broken and it forces people to relearn to use their phone in a different way that's LESS effective.

Galaxy Z Fold 5

Having the same issue.

I buy at least 2 new flagship phones from Samsung every year on average for all my family.

If this usability issue is not rolled back, I have to find other brand for Android.

Whoever pushed this design/update should be fired.

The new gesture operation makes people swipe from right or left side of the screen to inward direction.

When using Z Fold in the folded state, the width of the phone is very short. Browsing Samsung's own site is even difficult and tells enough about the company. When you do hilorozontal scrolling by pushing the elements right to left, the new gesture simply performs "back" operation even with the smallest gesture area.

I hate this so much. Bring back the swipe up gesture with 3 buttons. ASAP.

I've been getting used to the new way but I'm still frequently accidentally swiping the side of the screen trying to navigate a site or photo and going back when I really didn't want to...even when the detection margin is set to minimum.

I would much prefer the three-area swipe up functionality that I had on my S23+.
