Greetings,
Does the Samsung S24 Ultra offer a feature where one can lock some apps? Similar to the iPhone's shortcut. I use a shortcut on some of my phone app, whenever someone attempts to open the app, it requires Face ID to utilize the app. I'm curious if Samsung possesses a similar option that could accomplish something similar. This is all about privacy and I do not wish for anyone to view or use my app without my consent. Kindly provide an answer.

Sadly, if you travel abroad, Norton stops working OK, which are bad news for wanderlusts like myself.

You would be amazed at the literal dozens of threads in the internet, claiming for the native app locker function... I totally disagree with the "not something most people want" appraisal...

I have read that workaround for Samsung, however there are some features which seem can't be solved with the Secure Folder:

  • How to make Secure Folder just prevent apps from being accessed, rather than creating duplicates? Think of a case in which I have a couple of dozens of apps I wanna hide, it's annoying to be manually deleting each of the duplicates Secure Folder created for me.
  • Which is funnier, is the fact that the apps created by Secure Folder are exact twins: not only you have to delete the apps but the data too...
  • There are some apps which simply cannot be un-installed. Try hiding securing the "Gallery" completely for instance: it cannot be deleted. And nope, hiding the icon doesn't work, because anyone with that tutorial can eventually find those icons out.

Any hints about how to deal with that?

*Sighs* I was expecting better from a Samsung flagship (it'sthe Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra BTW), this is my first use of any device in this brand, and have stumbled upon several disappointing situations like this one. More disappointing is the fact that today, even the cheapest Chinese phones can do things this expensive thing simply can't.

Thanks.

Indeed as sad reality. I've just switched from a rather cheaper Chinese phone, and I'm already regretting missing such a feature. Samsung ought to consider updating their firmware to include tis and many other simple features... like directly selecting an app (in a folder) by clicking its icon as opposed to now, you have to open the folder first the click to open the app.

Yes, Don't know what's wrong with Samsung. Wasting this much money on their devices like this and not able to lock the app by default is super frustrating! What a shame Samsung!!

What exactly are you trying to hide which is so important?

Secure folder has its own gallery, so any sensitive pictures can be moved to secure folder.

WhatsApp has its own app lock feature.

And like you say, you can add any app you want to secure folder, what does it matter if you have a duplicate or not? Delete the one you don't want and use the one you do.

These aren't flagship features, they're UI features, you're going to get a pretty universal UI across the manufacturers range, acting like this phone isn't worth the price because oneUI doesn't have applock is a pretty myopic way of thinking.
