Ever since my S21 Ultra, have always been impressed by Samsungs excellent networking chips in their phones, especially WIFI.

I have a WIFI 6 router at home connected to 1gb virgin media connection.
By far the most consistent in fast.com speedtests always has been the Samsung

(S21 Ultra)

However since getting the s23 Ultra, although it connects at a very healthy 1.2gbps (see screenshots)
The fast.com speedtests always cap out betweent700 - 800mpbs

Whilst testing done at the same time on a MacBook Air M2 and iPhone 13 Pro Max all fast.com test at 1.0gbps+

----------------------------------------

Troubleshooting so far...

  • Rebooted S23 ultra.. no effect on max fast.com speed

  • Reset the network settings on S23 Ultra.. no effect on max fast.com speed

  • Factory reset and tested from vanilla install with no apps installed.. no effect on maxfast.com speed

  • Hard rebooted both wifi router and ISP hub... no effect on max fast.com speed

  • Changed from randomised Mac address to phones... no effect on max fast.com speed
  • Turned off the "switch to better WiFi networks" ... no effect on max fast.com speed

Have tried several times on all devices at different times of the day and all of my WIFI 6 devices can achieve 1.0gbps+ speeds apart from the S23 Ultra

Have tried speediest.net and various other speed testing apps and sites and they all report the same, that the S23 Ultra doesn't achieve a fast a download rate as the other devices.

The WIFI router doesn't have an QOS enabled and isn't maxed out with too many devices

----------------------------------------

My conclusion is that there is something on the S23 Ultra which is throttling the max internet throughput speeds

Again, looking at the connected speed on both the S23 Ultra and the shown connected speeds on the router GUI itself, both report a 1.2 gbps connection.

One thing I haven't done is factory reset both the hub and router, but that seems doubtful considering several other devices bot mobile and laptop have no such throughput difficulties.

Anyone else noticed such an issue? Obviously its not a massive issue, but its bugging me nevertheless as my previous S21 Ultra never had such internet speed issues.

Well Butter My Butt and Call Me a Biscuit!

I just set my phone up with a fixed ip address on my router and the reported connection speed doubled to 2.4gbps and my speedtests now max out my ISP provided speeds!

How do you set up a fixed ip?

On your router, you would be looking for DHCP settings in the LAN section, obviously it's different depending on the make and model of router you have... But there you can manually assign a device a fixed ip address Monosnap ASUS Wireless Router RT-AX88U - DHCP Server 2023-02-23 12 pm-07-17_1000000200_167715411.jpgScreenshot_20230223_120417_ASUS Router.jpg

I tried this and got exactly nothing of the results you got. Literally nothing changed.

I'm in the same boat. I'm with virgin on 1gig bb and my s23 ultra is only pullin 710mbps. I've tried alsorts from splitting the bands and all above and still have the same out come. 🤔Screenshot_20230625_170107_Samsung Internet.jpg

Bit of a bump but yeah same here. Link speed shows 1.2gbps but my speed tests seem to be capping at 600ish

That would mean you've connected at 160mhz.
