Navigation bar horrible. Swiping from the sides is disaster!

Opening active windows with delay swiping another horror. 

For years navigation bar was working pure perfection - now it is madness!!

Google has decided to implement the navigation change to accommodate the new AI features.
Suspect it's a change that's here to stay. Time will tell

It's causing me so much grief, especially since it's messed smth up for a bunch of features I immediately disabled.

Thanks to everyone for advices . All settings restored to standard. No more suffer.

All the link shows you is how to change between physical buttons and the new swipe system. I don't want physical buttons. I want the old swipe system. Any way of doing this ?

Please tell me there's a way to revert back to the old way. I could work my phone this morning and now I'm sat trying to fix a problem that didn't exist 3 hours ago
