As a near long-time Samsung user, I've always been impressed by their innovations. However, recent design choices like the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro have been disappointing. Combined with a perceived lack of innovation in the Android space compared to previous years, I've decided that I'll  switch to iPhone in September .The iOS 18 update at WWDC was the final push.

While I'm excited about the change, I'm also a bit nervous. I haven't ever used an iPhone but I did for a short period of time have an iPad mini 4, so I'm curious about what's changed. Any tips or advice for a returning Apple user would be greatly appreciated. And is there anything that I should know?

Thanks all

I've never had the misfortune to use one, so I can't really say. It would be good if you could borrow one for a bit, just to compare. Shame to spend all that money and then decide that you hate it.

Enjoy your 🍎

See you again in a couple of months 😛. We'll keep your space warm.

Im going to buy outright through apple but tbh you might be right, it's just that I don't like owning a £1400 phone if it's lagging to any extent. So I'll give it a try and in 2 years time (or sooner if it's really that bad) I'll update you on whether I go back. Do you have insta by any chance? I'll DM you on there honestly

I've used 🍎 on and off through the years. My first being 3G and latest one 14 Pro Max.

Sure, they upped camera quality, tweaked how you'd unlock the phone and threw in some new features but overall, the OS stayed the same. It's not customisable. It's bulky and heavy. It's just MEH.

I'll never waste my money again.

Good luck and see you again soon when you come back to Samsung 😁

Honestly I am in agreement with @OmegaMutant
I have the 15 Pro Max and it's a hateful thing.
Yes the cameras are very good.
But the OS is not very nice and some of it is years out of date
iOS 18is not all you imagine it's going to be
For a start in Europe it looks like their very basic AI features are going to be curtailed. If they bring them to Europe
Something to do with some rules the EU has
Swipe gestures are not as good as android
Keyboard is rubbish
Honestly the list goes on for me

Apple has a way of marketing that draws customers in for very minor changes.

Best thing is to go into and apple store and have a play for a while with an iPhone.
For me it's the little user experience things. Like no fingerprint sensor. Your stuck with face ID and that's it.

There's no harm in sampling what other devices are out there @H3S3G

I'll be one of the first welcoming you back to the Dark Side 😎

Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²⁵ Ultra 512Gb ~ Titanium Black.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "

Enjoy your journey and we will welcome you back imminently when you return your device under the 14 day returns rule.

I had an IPad before, most expensive door stop I ever had. Won't have apple again.

Maybe not Samsung next time but definitely not 🍈

Always thought of getting Apple and still do but end up with Samsung.

Reasons

1. Expensive and no freebies (I love my freebies)
2. Seen to many people with shattered iPhone screens
3. Having watched countless iOS Vs android and the things iOS can't do as supposed to android is just shocking.

One day I may still get it just for the same of it.

One Day.

I just think I've stopped bothering with getting freebies if they're all so bad, like the buds 2 I got for free, cream and the hinge is awful, sound quality is amazing, but compared to my xm5's they're nothing. I definitely agree with you on the shattered screens one but I generally see people of a younger age than myself with broken screens but obviously we're bound to see it more, because assuming your in the US like 87% of teens own an iPhone, here in the UK it's slightly less, but then less kids get phones young like Americans do. And lastly, your point about iOS being lesser in features to android is definitely true. But ive just stopped bothering with all the little features on my phone aside from sound assistant and camera assistant. But I'll see how it goes. If anything I'll keep my s23 ultra on standby as opposed to in a drawer, in the box just in case haha.

You'll wish you kept android tbh. I was an avid iphone user yes they're fast and fluid you'll receive faster software updates but oh god the OS is so boring. iOS18 is lacklustre compared to one ui. Anything that Apple bring our for iOS Samsung can immediately copy. Good luck with it but you'll switch back to Android maybe not a Samsung but you'll be back.
