Subject: Simultaneous Release of One UI 7 Beta for S23 and S24 Series

Dear Samsung developers

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to present a suggestion regarding the upcoming One UI 7 beta release. As an expert in the field, I believe that a simultaneous release of the beta for both the S23 and S24 series would be highly beneficial for Samsung and its customers.

By releasing the beta for both series at the same time, Samsung can ensure that all eligible users have equal access to the new features and can contribute to the improvement of the software from day one. This would result in a more comprehensive and valuable feedback loop, allowing Samsung to address a wider range of issues and preferences.

Additionally, eliminating the staggered release schedule across different countries would enhance customer satisfaction and create a more inclusive user experience. By providing simultaneous access to all eligible countries, Samsung can gather feedback from a diverse user base, leading to a more refined and globally optimized software experience.

I kindly request that you forward this suggestion to the relevant department for consideration. I believe that this approach would not only delight our customers but also generate positive recognition for Samsung from both users and the media.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I appreciate your time and consideration.

Best regards,

Adam

Hey there

I'm afraid Samsung won't see your suggestions from here.

Please copy them and then go to the Samsung Members App, click on Support (bottom right) then feedback and post your thoughts there.

This will go to the Developers but please (to manage expectations) note that you are one of millions of device users so you may not get the change you desire.
I am not employed by Samsung nor do I receive any remuneration as a Samsung Members Star.

My device is an S25 Ultra.

Yes I've been in touch, they've linked this forum because developers see what's been posted. 👍 but thanks for your input.

The problem is, what if there's a bug that either bricks or negatively impacts the device (again), then you have a hell of a lot more people annoyed because they think beta releases are supposed to be stable and bug free. When testing rollouts it's always better to start with a smaller group to minimise any negative effects. You just have to look at the recent Crowdstrike disaster to see what happens when you don't test updates with a small group first.

@Adam it is a good suggestion... the more testers across multiple products then the better.

I used to work for Nokia during the early 2000s and the boom phase of mobile phones when Nokia were a big player.

We used to have 'true testers'. The purpose of this was to test proto hardware before release, along with the software... and the concept remains the same for software beta release testing.

We used to have some 500 volunteers to test hardware and each week a league table of bugs raised (which were confirmed / valid bugs).

At the end of the testing period, the top 5 users with the largest contribution to the testing used to then get given a gift... often that was a CE marked / released version of the test phone, or another appropriate gift.

For Samsung beta testing to encourage people to 'bug hunt' and to be efficient in raising issues, Samsung should implement something as an incentive in a similar way. I.e. top beta testers on each category get a free handset flip6 / fold6 / S24u.

Obviously bugs would need to be validated and accepted.

I WONT be beta testing. I don't want a bug ridden daily phone, and would be happy for you all to do the testing and deliver me a bug-free release in November. 😄

Not everyone will join the beta but it does warn you when you join the beta that there will be bugs so it's at the users risk. We know this already.

I really do not think Developers  spend much time on the Community  , recognise though you have been asked to post here.  As to the substantive point (whilst recognise the reasoning)   not sure I would favour this approach, I think  in all likelihood it is better to start with a smaller pool for efective testing.

I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.

I am sending out this suggestion for design options. We all hold our phones from the sides of the case. Unconsciously, we can change the volume on our phone, often time effecting the sound of the ringtone. I think it would be a great option if you could put the buttons on the top of the case, much like some of the tablets I have seen. I think it could be a huge market idea.
