Stop notifications opening into chats

Does anyone know how to or if its possible to stop notifications opening into chats dirlectly and have them open the parent application instead, as they do on iOS. 

It's super annoying when you hit one by accident and opens and marks read something you didn't mean to.

" To stop notifications from opening into chats on a Samsung device, you can customize your notification settings for each app: 

1. Open Settings
2. Tap Notifications
3. Tap App notifications
4. Select the app you want to change
5. Turn off notifications for the app or choose which categories to receive notifications for

You can also manage your notifications from the lock screen. 

You can also turn off notifications for Google Chat on an Android device by: 

1. Opening the Chat app
2. Tapping and holding a direct message
3. Tapping Notification settings
4. Selecting All or None "
