My phone was returned back from having a screen replacement. All seemed to be working correctly. What I did not know until I went out of the house to go shopping was that the phone would not connect to my mobile network whilst out and about, all it would show was Emergency calls only or no network connection at all, the reason that I did not notice this problem whilst at home was down to the phone using Wi-Fi calling which was working fine.

I spent an afternoon with my service provider checking to see if it was a problem their end but it was not.

I then started some diagnosis of my own, for information I also have an identical S23 Ultra phone that is my partners phone to compare with, also have a backup Samsung Galaxy A71 phone and also 3 different pay monthly (no problems on the account side) Sim card networks Three, ID Mobile & Vodafone to compare against.

Using my partners S23 phone I put both Sim cards in it and straight away they both connected to their network with strong 4G & 5G signal and not showing Emergency calls, Wi-Fi & Wi-Fi calling was turned off to make sure, everything working correctly. I then transferred both Sim cards to my A71 phone and again everything working correctly. Finally, I transferred both Sim cards back to my S23 phone and could only get Emergency calling so it is definitely something wrong with the phone as this problem was not there before your company carried out a repair of the screen.

The testing of transferring the Sim cards all took place in the exact same location and within a couple of minutes of each other.

The phone was again sent back to the same Samsung repair company who claimed that there is nothing wrong with the phone and have sent the phone back to me but I cannot get the phone to work. This is getting beyond a joke as I now have a phone that I cannot use unless connected to a WiFi network.

Has anyone had the same problem after have a screen replacement?

Hi, With regards to the repair shop you used. Can you confirm if they are an authorised Samsung repair centre or a 3rd party? Are you based in the UK?

When your repair was done, the technician would have wiped your device completely. Did you remove the SIM or eSIM (if you have one) prior to repair?

When you collected your device, did you immediately install any backups?

Can you perform another factory reset. Remove the SIM card and / or any eSIM. After the reset has been completed, then leave the phone as stock. Reinsert your SIM ( you may be prompted to download any mobile network settings). Don't install any backups. See if your mobile network connection is working properly. Monitor for a few hours. If all is good, then set up any eSIM if necessary.

Yes it was all done through Samsung who sent it to their authorised repair centre and yes I am in the UK.

The device was sent in and left in maintenance mode and when I received it back it was still in maintenance mode and the device had not be wiped, yes Sim cards were removed.

The device has since been completed factory reset and tested as a stock phone.

The mobile network is working correctly but not in the repaired phone.

Did you try some other sims, maybe your partner's or new one,  in the repaired phone?

Thanks.

Can you check some settings please. Head to Settings>Connections

Ensure Flight mode is toggled OFF
Ensure Service provider is showing your mobile network provider name

Tap Mobile Networks>Network mode and set to 4G/3G/2G (auto connect)
Tap Access Point Names. Ensure your network phone plan is listed and active
Tap Network operators. Ensure Select automatically is toggled ON

With the SIM card inserted, can you please head to Settings>Connections >SIM manager. Please provide a screenshot of this page. !! Edit out your mobile number !!

Go back to Samsung tech support and ask them to resolve the issue.

Hi I got exact the same problem. Did all recommendations here. Still didn't make any difference. I was told by Samsung repair technician that maybe to do with my charging port. So I had to pay for the port to get it it fix on his next revisit. Hopefully they will manage to fix it as I am now regretting paying for a very pricey screen replacement with a phone that doesn't work to call or text it only works for WiFi calling. I will keep you posted.

I ended up managing to go into the Samsung store in Liverpool and they diagnosed a connection problem, had to leave the phone with them as they had to order in the new parts, they replaced two boards and the antenna and posted the phone back to me, went into the store on the Sunday, phone was fixed on the Tuesday and got the phone back on the Thursday. Now have a working phone again. Just a pity the 1st repair company couldn't do their job right the 1st and 2nd time
