Samsung S23 Plus WIFI/BLUETOOTH ISSUES after ONE UI update 6.1

Bought a new S23 plus about 4-5 months ago (28.april). Had no issues with the phone until One UI version 6.1.

- After updating i started loosing wifi and Bluetooth, like not able to connect at all and no wifi network/devices showing. And wifi i constantly staying in "Turing on.." not finding any nearby WIFI. Had this issue a while now and sometimes it randomly starts working again maybe a few days and then then, suddenly stops working and cant find any wifi networks any more.

Quite an annoying problem and should not be expected with an "high end" device like this.

- I also have an older S10e that i compared with and it finds the different Wifi networks no problem and the issue is only on my S23. So any router issue can be ruled out. On the S23 its not just home network's but, any wifi. It simply can't detect/register it at all.

Troubleshooting ive already done multiple times include:

- 1. Use the Samsung Members app to diagnose Wi-Fi connectivity issues. Open the Samsung Members app, go to Support and tap 'Phone diagnostics', and select Wi-Fi' to test it.

Not helpfull at all becuase it doesn't even test anything when there is no wifi signal. Just says all OK. Useless

- 2. Reset the settings. Settings>General management>Reset>Reset Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings. No difference

2. Test in Safe Mode. No difference

3. Clearing the cache partition. To get to recovery mode: -Turn off phone ⁃ Once off, hold down volume up and power buttons simultaneously ⁃ When Samsung logo appears, release power button BUT KEEP HOLDING VOLUME UP until the recovery menu appears ⁃ Use volume buttons to navigate down to clear cache. No difference

- also done a "hard reset" between all these. Holding powerbutton and lower volume, util it shuts off. Which seems to work sometimes. But not every time so i think the phone just randomly decide to work at does times.

- Only thing i havent done is a factory reset of obvious reasons. Which i would like to avoid doing if i possible

So with all that, im pretty sure this is a software issue the way it just randomly starts working for a while and then stops again. What else can i do to permanently get rid off this issue?

Anyone who can assit me here?

@Kjetil : Please note that I have removed the serial number of your device from your post in accordance with data protection, as it is a key identifier of the phone.

You mentioned that performing a Hard Reset (Volume Down + Side buttons together until the phone restarts) resolves the problem temporarily. Have you noticed a pattern as to when the issue re-occurs, such as after using a certain app or feature, or after a certain period of time?

In the meantime, if you're able to connect to Wi-Fi, please head to Settings > Software update > Download and install, to see if any further updates are available that might resolve the issue. Furthermore, head to Settings > Security and privacy > Updates > Security update to ensure that you're on the latest security version.

Hi Andrew

I mentioned in my post that i dont think "hard resetting "  does fix it temporarily, I've done it som many times that I think it just the phone randomly deciding to work. Becuase i recently got the issue now atm, no wifi/Bluetooth and does not fix it now. After it was working for almost 6 days in a row earlier.

Haven't found any pattern to it or specific app, one day the phone just suddenly is connected to wifi without any direct cause of the troubleshooting ive done.

I did just update the  1. August patch (via mobile network). So i now have the latest, still same issue with wifi and Bluetooth though.

Anything else you can think of? I saw in some post about the same issue that some found it actually was a hardware issue? Has there been lots of reports about this? Shouldn't be, since it happened right after the UI update for me, but I don't know if it can be ruled out.

Hi,

There does seem to be an influx of members posting about this issue, especially after an update.

You may have to bite the bullet here and factory reset. Back up any important data first. After reset, do not install any backups or apps. Keep the phone as stock and monitor.
If still not fixed, then consider having it inspected by an authorised Samsung repair centre.

Hi Robin and Andrew

Thanks for all the help. I did bite the bullet and factory reset the whole phone.

Result: There is absolutely nothing on it now and i started it like it was new. And im sorry to say it did not change anything, still same problem, no WiFi or Bluetooth. In the startup first time you can't even see any WiFi networks there so there has to be something seriously wrong with the phone. And frankly I'm sick of it by now. (And btw I'm writing this on my old S10e, which has no issue at all connecting to nearby WIFI or bluetooth devices)

So clearly there is some hardware fail here. And i would like to take this further to a warranty case.

Attached is a picture of the startup meny where you are supposed to choose WiFi. Did not suddenly appear later either.

So how do we proceed?

Hi,

So, at this juncture, I'd have it looked at by an authorised Samsung repair centre. If your device isn't scanning for, or able to recognise any wifi networks, then as you say, there may be some hardware fault.

If you’re based in the UK, that can be done by following the steps relevant to you here

https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/repair

or by contacting Support here

https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/contact/

If you’re based elsewhere, then check out your country’s Samsung website for further advice that’s relevant to you here

You can also call UK support on

Hi, there is defitely something wrong with latest update 6.1. After this update, wifi wont connect. It seems like some sort of "power saving" problem. Its registered and recognized at router at "sleeping state", wifi is visible at device, but wont connect at all.

In intelligent wifi, try turning off prioritise real-time data and turn off switch to better networks.

Also in intelligent wifi, tap on the intelligent wifi version several times to turn on the labs and from within the connectivity labs menu that should appear, try disabling turn off auto reconnect to carrier wifi. Finally, from within this connectivity labs menu, you can look at the developer options as it will show you the history of your phone and wifi connections as this may help you see what's causing the drops to happen.

Hi carguy

Thanks for the reply. Tried what you said above, no difference unfortunately. This issue seems more and more like a hardware problem. All the wifi history says wifi on 24/7, but no actual connection to any WiFi networks, but thanks for the tip, could be useful for future troubleshooting.

I already contacted Samsungs and sending the phone to a service center.

I am having the same problem. I updated my device to the latest One UI (version 6.1) yesterday and post that I am not able to connect to 4g or 5g network. I am unable to do any transaction when I go outside. The place I use is the same place I have been staying for 10 long years. It bought it recently (August 1st week 2024) Issue started yesterday when I went outside and tried to do a UPI payment in Bangalore India. The network provider is the same and I have enough data left on my number. Please resolve this ASAP since its very difficult to use for anything outside my house.
Device details: Galaxy S23 Ultra.
