Hi all

I have Android 14 with One UI 6.0

I have noticed a strange intermittent issue. When I unlock my phone using fingerprint it automatically opens a random app on my phone that I never explicitly opened myself. It's usually facebook.

Anyone else experiencing the same issue?

TIA

Nik

icon that's usually in the app drawer. If you have Marshmallow or later, you might have apps that start randomly due to a lack of battery optimization. This method helps optimize apps so they stop starting automatically.

Doesn't happen on my S21 with the same version of Facebook app. I believe it's a S23 / One UI issue.

Thanks for posting this, Nik! Yes, it's been happening on my S23 Ultra for several days if not a couple weeks now. Super annoying, which is why I decided to look up if anyone else has found a fix yet. Hoping to get this corrected soon...

I know this sounds a bit obvious but, is your app placed under the fingerprint scanner and your phone thinks your tapping on that right after you unlock your phone? (Sorry if I sound stupid.)

Not stupid! Great callout.  Now that I'm looking more closely, I can see 3 apps real close to where the fingerprint scanner is located that, yes, are typically the ones launching on unlocking. But there's another app higher and to the right that opens a lot too. Very odd. Should we test removing apps from that section to see if it fixes the auto-launch issue? (Which wouldn't actually be a fix, IMO, but still.)

Maybe I had a similar problem on my s22 ultra but on a smaller scale, I just tried to lift my finger off the scanner as quick as possible after the phone unlocked. But changing the app positioning is a better fix (as long as you have enough space on your home screen to move them. 😊

The main struggle I have with that "solution" is that this is a NEW problem that wasn't occurring before. So, what changed? Ya know?
