S23 Ultra subpar battery life

I have had my S23 Ultra for a few weeks now and the battery life is absolutely nothing short of abysmal. I can only get a maximum of 4hrs of SOT, which is ridiculous for this flagship given the price I paid and thay others are getting 8-9-10hrs SOT.

I previously used Smart Switch to transfer from my S21+ and after reading that it can potentially cause battery drain I factory reset the phone. Nothing changed. Here are my settings:

  • 120hz WQHD+
  • Brightness varies but generally around 40%
  • Mix of WiFi 6, 4G LTE (no 5g) Keep in mind there's good signal in my area.
  • Bluetooth on (Galaxy Watch 4)
  • Protect Battery (only charge to 85%)

I have a Bixby Routine set up to turn off wifi, mobile data, bluetooth and turn on airplane mode and battery saver, yet it still drains like 4-5% overnight. I can't imagine how much it will drain without that...

I'd really like some help here because this is purely unacceptable for a flagship. My s21+ was also getting almost the same abysmal battery life (around 2hr SOT). I'm really disappointed in Samsung and I regret buying this.

It's got worse after that February patch, phone calls don't seem to treat the battery very well at all, I've gone from getting 9 hour to 6 to 7, had the phone 2 weeks.
People need to stop bigging it up, it's not that great.

For me, it was terrible from the start.

What I'm finding even more confusing is that going from wqhd to fhd doesn't even add more juice

Samsung are scammers. I gave them a second chance and I deeply regret it.

Vote with your wallet, people. No wonder the iPhone's marketshare is the largest and growing.

Phone batteries are always terrible from the start because we always batter a new phone with all sorts. You're still in the honeymoon period lol. The S23 series has only just been released!
I remember well people moaning about the S22 battery. Many still do now after the last update. Mine gives incredible battery life for such a small power cell.

I appreciate your response, but I have it since the second day it released. It has "learnt" my usage patterns (Ir had to re-learn them since I reset it) and I don't know what to do. Should I give it a few more weeks? Also, is topping up a few % in the mornings bad?

Yes please give it time. You'll probably receive some software updates over time too. They will improve it. Also restart your phone at least one a week will help reset stuff.

I charge my phone to 100% everytime. No, topping up when required won't do any harm. I do that myself before going out for a night out.

How can they always be terrible from the start when it's a fresh new battery, people always spend lots of time on there phones new or not, I'd be spending just as much time on the 13 Pro max that's now been sold.
Ive got a list of Samsungs I've owned all pretty recent in my warranty section within the app and by now I know the behaviour when it comes to battery life and its unsettling, too many options and always a struggle to make sense of it there is too much going on with Samsungs to pin point these causes and doesn't always show in the battery stats.
I'm starting to also think people are lying about it, if anything the battery should be getting better after 2 weeks because that other useless adaptive battery feature people always bang on about should be apparently working.
It's always one big farce with Samsung, just optimise it properly and get rid of all these stupid unnecessary optional settings that don't do a thing, I've owned plenty of android phones too that just have standard battery settings and churn out hours of screen on time.
P30 pro was a good example, had all the bells and whistles and battery was excellent because it was aggressive at stopping things going in the background.
