S23 Ultra Restart Loop

I got the S23 Ultra last month and I'm very happy with it, apart from one very annoying issue - whenever the phone starts, either from a restart or being switched off completely and switched back on again, it will get stuck in a restart loop. The phone constantly gets a little way into the startup procedure, usually as far as loading the home screen, then goes black and starts the process again. The only way I've found to break this cycle is to hold down the volume up and power buttons, which usually enables it to start normally.

When I use the volume up & power method, I get a message on screen that says "PDP, Backup Fail".

I've also noticed this weekend while traveling that I get the same issue when taking the phone out of airplane mode or when turning on WiFi while in airplane mode.

Does anybody know I solution to this issue? I'm on an unbranded phone bought from Amazon, on O2, all software and apps up to date. I've tried clearing the cache partition and starting in safe mode, which did not improve the issue. The phone works perfectly apart from this problem.

Is there any software updates pending for the phone @JohnPearce

May I assune the phone wasn't like this out of the box ?

Try Safe Mode  > https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-to-start-my-galaxy-device-in-safe-mode/ turns off downloaded apps and themes etc which may highlight an app or theme that's causing conflict.

And also > Clear Cache Files from the phone's System Partition Section  > https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-do-i-clear-the-cache-on-my-device/ You may need to insert your earphones or hook upto a powered On Laptop to access the Clear Partition Section. This may help with lag or stutters as this clears the phone of old/unused or broken cache files. There is also a Repair Apps option in the Menu System too.

If necessary as a last resort back up and Factory Reset.

There us an avenue to send any crash logs etc and feedback via your Samsung Members app.

A Samsung Service Centre can assess your phone too.

Would you let us know how you get on.

If I can be of any further help then please don't hesitate. Take care.  😎
