Hi members

Looking for some advice? I'm looking to get the S23 Ultra for my next phone but I was wondering if to get rid of my other phone? I'm currently using a S22 (still in contract with Sky). However, if I decided to swap with Sky, the value of the S22 has drastically reduced and won't cover my repayments if I decide to pay off the remainder of my contract.

Out of interest, what have you done to purchase your Ultras to make it as affordable as possible? Basically, I don't want to have a contract anymore.

Many thanks....

Always buy unlocked, and a sim only cheap plan. :smiling-face:

SIM only, buy phone out right... If you want to upgrade the next year you generally get a good value for it with Samsung (and less hassle than selling on eBay)

Phone contracts are so expensive...I don't think anyone uses 200gb data a month on their phones but they make out it's a good deal...

I traded my S22 Ultra for my S23 Ultra on pre order. Think they gave £600 trade in value. Nice bump too, went from the 128GB 8GB RAM S22 Ultra model to a 1TB 12GB RAM S23 Ultra.

Thanks for the heads up! As you suggested, I think what I'm going to do around November is sell the S22 for cash, pay off the remainder of my contract with it (depending what the value of the S22 at that time), keep it as sim only and buy the phone from Samsung direct. Also, Samsung did say you can trade-in any working or non-working smartphone for a guaranteed £150 off the purchase.

I sold mine on UR CO UK last week at £485 and got an S23 Ultra unlocked from Samsung. Overall selling experience was smooth and this seems to be best possible price at the moment looking at what Samsung, Apple or any of the major carriers are offering in trade in.

@SK29 - Thanks for the info. I didn't know about ur.co.uk and they seem to be very reputable and got good reviews on Trustpilot. The S22 is going for much more than Samsung and other major carriers. Was the transaction a smooth process?

You are welcome. It was a smooth transaction. I requested for a free postage pack on their website just for the secure packaging and received one. But I chose to send it through Royal Mail special delivery as advised by them as the free postage was only offering liability cover until £150. Payment was made by UR in two days upon reciept of the device.

I decided to put the S22 on ebay (hopefully for a better price). Also, decided to go for the S23 Plus instead of the S23 Ultra, since I've also ordered the Tab S9 Plus, so keeping everything in the Plus range 🙂
